So the idea was get rid of the tank recoil, fit a LED flash, and improved digital control on my stock HL Tiger 1.

First up replaced the RX18 with Taigen control, added a RCTA Dragon v3. Although this offered the solution to my needs I still needed to get round the microswitch on the BB unit.

It was suggested that I do a "Diode mod" but the most excellent Kevin at RC Tanks Australia suggested replacing the microswitch with a simple mini relay.

I used a 5V 3A SPST mini relay

Great results with the LED flash straight off the dragon board. All fitted with only the inner metal barrel sleeve removed from the BB unit. Just turn off the BB switch, so all BB function can be reinstated if necessary. Just a small hole drilled into the back of the mantlet mounts to feed the LED down the barrel.

It operates a lot better than using a high intensity flash off the microswitch and all in is cheaper too.... recommended mod.

Great work

I got to admit recently I'm preferring the LED flash over the Xenon flash lately.

I agree with Tankbear. i used Xenon flashes for a while but have now switched to LED. I found the LED works much better in tanks without a muzzle brake and can be situated further down a gun barrel and still produce an effective flash.
