Azimut Atlantic challenger (times two)

For my next trick....I got these both off eBay with a view to selling one. One of them is the kit by graupner, twin jet drives with servo actuated reversing buckets. It also has a diesel sound module for realistic sounds. I'm planning on adding running lights controlled l with a pico switch.

The second is a copy based on the graupner plans. It uses a single graupner type 5 jet drive which is designed with a petrol engine in mind. I'm debating weather to go down this route or use a big brushless motor instead.

Hey crispy, they're 1:20 scale and measure a little over 1.3m They where (the real one) designed to cross the Atlantic which has given the model really nice handling!

Some pictures:

I'm not a great one for tarting up interiors, if they work that'll do me!

And the outside, still needs finishing touched like reprinting the reversing buckets, some more antenna and a new mast head bit:

The end is nigh! Just a few bits and bobs to tidy before I seal her with satin (or gloss) laquer. Least nights job was to rebuilt the mast and associated lighting. I used 4mm thin walled aluminium tube with the lamps and platform bits off the original graupner part. I used surface mounted LEDs for abit more punch.

Next job is to paint it matching white and add all the antennas!
