Been thinking about future projects and I really want to do a late war Tiger 1. I was intending to start with a HL S&S Tiger and add all the mods as usual but i've come across these a couple of times in my searches and wondered if anyone here has tried them out?

At first glace it seems to already have most of the cosmetic bits im looking for, late cupola, single head light, full length barrel with recoil, even the later tracks with the ice cleats but can anyone tell me what the movement control is like and whether they're as reliable as HL or as easy to work on and upgrade?

Any advice would be welcome.

Hi nic been toying with these since there release

the gearboxes are the same as the t34 so can beupgraded to metal or asiatam lowprofiles

the electronics are pants so IMHO would benefit rx18

plastic especially the hull is very flimsy and again would require beefing up
not much on the suspension although they got the mounting and placement correctish

I've gutted 2 T34's now, and I agree with Rob - toss the electronics! all they were good for was stripping the 2 pin sockets and using them on the RX-13's that replaced the original boards...
You'll most likely decide to cut out the battery box as it holds 8x AA's - Mr Dremel and a set of plastic cutting wheels will take care of this...
(tho I think you could maybe get away with 8x Hi-capacity NiMH cell's? - I think Tony mentioned he'd used 8 cells with his T34?).

You should have enough room for a set of HL gearboxes if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to the asiatam units.
