I found the standard wsn t34 to be quite a good model. Only upgrades I've done on both of mine are change the electronics.
If your into scratch building why not convert it to a su85 or su100 or a t34 arv.

Good Morning, Tankbear,
You should show Rob those amazing vids from your page of the WSN T-34 with the electronics changed out. That would be the only change I would consider for mine as well. It is a beautiful and detailed model right out of the box.

thanks for that guys , especially the heads up on the discount code
i've never done any scratch building before but who knows. what's the reason for the change of electronics ?
i also read somewhere that the metal gears are not really worth changing to but rather convert to a h.l gearbox. has anyone done this ?

I changed the electronics because I couldn't get use to the controls compared to my HL tanks. So first up I changed the electronics to HL, but recently I've started selling the IBU2 so the last T34 I got I fitted one of them.
Here's the video painless is referring too.
Regarding the gearboxes, stick with plastic ones if you change to metal it be noisier and the vibrations transfer down the shafts and wear the plastic gearbox walls to bigger holes until the gears no longer mesh together.
Ian.

If you want to battle others the electronics need to be changed as the WSN system is not compatible with any others. I have changed my 2 WSN T-34/85's to Clark boards from Immortal Hobbies and mounted hammerhead apples with emitters that MichaelC built for me so I didn't have to bugger up the front of the turret. I also had him change them over to servo recoil which makes them fire REALLY nice... I consider it a much easier and less expensive way to really improve the WSN kit in function, sound, and battle capability.
Everybody is right, nice kits out of the box. Also I have one that I have run really hard over all of last summer I did have an issue with the gearbox after it got jammed pretty good but was able to fix it. I am going to run the plastic ones till they really blow up and then yes, convert to some type of HL low profile motors. I haven't tried metal tracks yet but some guys say it really doesn't make a lot of difference...

Upgrade the WSN... if you can afford it...strip all the guts out and get this from edwin (he's a member here who machines metal everything for the tanks )
this is a video of a chassis he posted for another guy..who was looking into either the WSN or HENG LONG...edwin's is by far better than both... and would probably be a better investment than changing out all the parts needed to make the WSN into a good performer ...yes .. the internals are that bad
Welcome to the board Rob
