RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

My name is Bob from the UK. Whilst recovering from flu 4 weeks ago I stumbled across rc tanks and ordered a Taigen Panrher iv as a toy. Fortunately it was from one of your blacklisted suppliers and the airsoft did not work,the idler fell off ,and I can go on and on. No response from the supplier so I had a look at fixing it.I found you could buy spares ,upgrade and that there is a community of rc tankers. I then had a lucky break and purchased a Pershing painted by a real expert. I am hooked. I have found I spend hours looking at pictures of real tanks and planning a project. Problem is I do not have any modelling skills. Guess I will have to learn.

Hey Bob, welcome to the forum and to bad about getting burnt on your first purchase. Reference your modeling skills, just ask if you have an issue, they're tons of experts here that will be more than willing to offer you some assistance. Enjoy...

Hello and welcome! There is a great and friendly bunch of guys here with vast knowledge of modeling and the tips and tricks needed to complete an RC Panzer right. We do love pictures here so show us your tanks and your Build once you begin it. Sorry as well to hear of your issues with your first tank. If it can be fixed, the know-how is here on the Forum.

Bob, Welcome to the Forum, it gives me no pleasure saying this but you are a classic example as to why people interested in this lunacy should join us before looking for their first Tank, That way you can be offered the chance to get what you want without the hazards of crooked dealers. Well I have always maintained the best 2 parts of starting along this road is choosing your first Tank and the modelling that goes with it, your first part was not much fun but the modelling will be, Tools, if you haven't got a Dremel you should make it a priority also small files( I use Drapers) and a good set of cutting blades, a revelation to me was Micro-saw-blades they come in various shapes and change a bodge into something you can be proud of, I would also suggest a debonder (essential for disassembling pre-glued parts) my choice is Zap 7 which you can get from Hobby-store or on line and of course a decent Super glue, Loctite have a good range, anyone one of us could go on for hours on our favourite tools but that's a start, ps while you are discovering how expensive this hobby is going to be, if you don't have an Airbrush I would go looking at what is on E-BAY. shaun

Don't worry about the modeling skills. There is enough step by step on here to let you do almost any mod from basic to museum quality.

Tools, lots of tools, must have more tools, need more tools, I have that tool but could use a new tool....
