hi all, does anyone know of a way ,other than lower hull replacement,to get rid of the bulge on the front of the lower hull where the gearboxes are on heng feng jadgtiger, matarro sturmtiger and king tiger, would heng long gearboxes of some model give you enough room to re model the front?/.

BULGE? 8O ....not sure what you are referring too...as most tanks of that hull design are flat in the front......and as far as HENG LONG gearboxes go... any of them should fit... you just need to get the proper axle length... they come in two sizes long and short....you can also change the profile by getting the low profile boxes

Alpha, the matorro based king tiger derivatives have buldges to accommodate the gear boxes!

Since I have never seen these models up close can you take a picture Tom pointing out the bulges? I have a couple of ideas but just need to see exactly where they are. You might also try the search tool here on the site as well. :D

Hi tomhugill....

What's up with MATORRO? :haha: ... they trying to be different or something ???....actually I looked it up... couldn't find any shots of the belly ... so I went to YOUTUBE... still no luck with the MATORRO... what was there was the HENG LONG... and TAMIYA...both were flat... so I would assume... that if they could flatten it out The MATORRO shouldn't be a problem... just cut off the bulge and replace it with some aluminum

With that said... I don't have either tanks or brands... so wouldn't really know if the bulges are a necessary thing or not

I agree ... pictures would have been good.... if the bulges aren't too prominent ... I would just leave them be..and work around them...if they hurt the performance... that's when I would just cut them off... as they could just be a detail element

Anyway.. here's a video of the HENG FENG against the TAMIYA JAGDTIGER....

Looks like the HENG FENG has a lot of shortcomings

Is that it!!!!Image..it's hardly a speed bump....just lay a piece of plasticard over that bump... and sand it to shape... or if it does have the zimmerit ... it's even easier.. just lay a coat and repaint it

Sorry if I sound hyped ... too much caffeine

It's massive!! With normal gearboxes you can do away with it I think.

Since you pointed them out tomhugill... I could see them in the video I posted as well...it doesn't look like a difficult mod...are the gearboxes in those models that different? .. I don't see how flattening out that front plate...and maybe grinding the frame of the gearbox...wouldn't accomplish the job
