I think it's because of the perceived weakness in the running gear and the late of ability to upgrade it. I think they're great, details excellent and much better than the HL version.

These are great tanks with better detail than the heng long apart from the ir on the top and they are good if you want a mid Tiger 1.

Good Morning,
Looks like a great base to begin with if you wanted to do a super detailed RC Tiger. I think I had read a thread on here or somewhere where components were swapped out and it was made into a solid runner as well as a good looker.

If they have the same "lighting" effect as the T34 than the turret/barrel is made out of the softer translucence plastic. Details is definitely better than HL and IMHO the electronics (Battling piece anyway) is better than HL. Gear is a bit weak and tough to upgrade though.

Really... Here in the States the HLs run from about 89 to 200....the low end torro lists at about 140 with the higher end model topping out at about 500...Personally I didn't like the controls of the low end model...because of the machine gun .. gun elevation actuation circuit ...like the T34...and after experiencing my HL Panther Dropping six feet onto the floor with minor quarter panel damage... I'd say the value is there ... just in the durability factor alone... if it had been a full metal tank... it would be scrap... torro's plastic is thin .. the tank would have got trashed
granted .. it's something that shouldn't have happened... but it did... missing my head by inches ...I know there are a lot of modellers who don't like the HENG LONGS...but so far they've proved very adaptable durable and relatively reliable
I actually considered purchasing a TORRO... did some research on YOUTUBE...and was turned off on it almost immediately ...it might be cheaper there in the UK... but consider all the mods you will have to do to it to make it better...add that to the start off price ... before you know it... you may have well gotten a TAMIYA
with that said.. "everything is relative" as you could mod a HL up the ying yang and get to the same point.... thing is... for 200 give or take depending on where you live... you get metal tracks .. gears... drivers and idlers ... a solid plastic foundation and a decent easy to use remote system
And about the details... isn't that what the general population of the forum changes anyway?
But as I stated... I've been doing this for about a month...so what do I know right

Bottom line for me is... it isn't about which is better or which is worse... it all comes down to personal preference ...You liked the TORRO...and subsequently bought it...After what I saw on YOUTUBE.... I didn't
What I did see...were more people having fun with the HENG LONG....and TORROS shown running straight out of the box with commentary on what changes the new owners were going to make

... the activation of the machine gun when the barrel was raised and lowered

...and the funky helicopter style remote with game console style gun activation buttons
