After looking at my pre-painted Heng Long Panther, which had been sitting in my garage for a year I thought it was time to start doing something with it.

First up the chassis, new Taigen 2.4ghz unit (swopped the neg and pos plug to get flash working, thanks to this forum) metal gearbox, sprockets and idlers. The metal tracks came with it.



Next up fabric paint for the hull welds, looking at the welds on the Bovington Panther they look like melted chocolate so this was a quick and easy fix. Squirt the Fabric paint down the channel, doesn't have to be even or stay in the channel. Leave to dry over night and the run a sharp knife along the top of the channel to remove the access… job done.

I'll be using the usual method of weld marks for the other attachments as I didn't want the hull welds to have little flat screwdriver like ridges in them.

Nice to see that you have done the welds after taking a look at the real ones. In reality welds are barely visible, and are very neat and tidy especially on the Panthers, rather than looking like chewing gum. Translate a full size weld into 1/16 and you would hardly know it was there. Nice use of the fabric material, it does the job perfectly.

Big thumbs up on that one, similar thing with rust on tanks, there wasn't any to speak of.

Must admit some of my other tanks have big welds, never stop learning each time I build one of these wonderful tanks. You should see my first Heng Long Tiger, bit ott on rust and dirt!

I was very surprised when I went to Bovington to see the Panther and how very German it was very neat and well finish and the welds were very smooth at 1to1.
