My 30 year old compressor has finally had enough, I am thinking of buying a can of airbrush propellant for my airbrush but as I have never used one is there any thing I should look out for or is the whole idea a non starter and I should get another compressor? shaun

Buy another compressor!

Over the years I must have spent enough on compressed air cans to buy a compressor 3 or maybe 4 times over...

I recently invested about 150 quid on a Sparmax (I'm not at home so can't name the model number at the moment).

FOR GOD'S SAKES MAN STEP AWAY FROM THE PROPELLANT!!!

Over here we have no problems finding gently used compressors for under $100. Generally from girls/women who thought they could make a living airbrushing tans and fingernails!

I am running an Iwata I bought 3 years ago for $100 and it came with a no name airbrush which I turned around and sold on Kijiji for $25.00. I use it at least once a week so it was good for me.

With the propellant starts out too much pressure, ends up too little pressure from my days of using them 30 years ago. I doubt much has changed. And of course you always run out with just one wee corner to do!
Some guys here go buy those little tank compressors at hardware stores, get a spare tire adapter for the airbrush hose. Even that would be better than propellant I think.

Just took delivery of my new compressor, just what I wanted, CHEAP, came with no frills but I have the hoses and other bits and pieces from my old one. Never thought I would find myself praising E-BAY, oh by the way it works as well. My thanks to everyone for their words of advice. shaun
