Tiger 1 turret problem

I am having a problem with my problem is with a Taiger Tiger 1 turret. The turret rotates to the right to the 3 o'clock position and stops/jerks. I have to move it by hand a little to get it to return to the front. It moves left to the 7 o'clock position and goes the same thing. I have changed the turret ring as well as the motor assembly with no change. It appears that the ring does not engage in the motor gears at the positions I mentioned. Any help on solving this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

That sounds like too much sideplay , you can glue some plastic strips in each side of the hole to eliminate the worst of the slop - but check that the gear can still rotate easily .

Daft question but is the turret ring on upside down? I just ask because I've done it and it allows excessive slop like Blimp mentions.

It does seem strange , I know the HL turret is a poor fit anyway , but is the taigen turret/hull so different that it allow the gear teeth to skip ? very odd . ( Maybe the gear ring is getting squeezed out of round by the mounting pillars ?)

The ring is on correctly, I replaced the original with another ring and it still is stopping at 3 and 9 o;clock positions. It's going to have to wait for a week as I left today for vacation! Thanks for the assistance.

another silly idea but have you tried it with the upper hull off so you can see
what it's doing?

yes, when the turret gets to 3 and 9 o'clock, it does not mess with the gears. there is way too much play in the turret/hull top. The amount of play is quite a bit more than in my other Tiger 1 with an Asiatam metal turret/hull.
