hi guys..have heard that after applying decals, in order to protect paint job (and cover gloss coat from decals) you can use matt varnish as a top coat..?
can't find tamiya matt acryllic (1st choice as am very new to airbrushing and would prefer to leave enamels for now) but read somewhere here that you can use WICKES matt varnish (water soluble)..have used this for woodworking and is a great product, fast drying, easy clean and good finish..
question is, is this true..? and would it need thinning and what with..? ???
many thanks guys,

picked up a couple of bottles tonight from asda mate..! ;)never realised there were so many aplications for modellers..check this out-http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
incidently, was reading something from a models forum posted last friday saying that klear is soon to be withdrawn from the uk??? ??? also read that it maybe re-branded as Pledge floor shine..? who knows, but as there is a seller on ebay asking nearly a tenner(inc postage) for a 500ml bottle maybe we should all stock up!!! asda=£2.28 ;)

Yup, a blooming great tin of Ronseal Matt Varnish was only about £5, and I used a thimble full to coat my paintwork. Works a treat, the paint stays on the tank, the decals are lacquered in and it doesn't matter if it gets wet...which can be a problem with acrylic based paint.
