In my dukw I used a m-tronic waterproof 25 amp controller for the drive train and a m-tronic waterproof 10 amp for the prop, my drive batteries are 12V 7 amph she has been running now for nearly 10 years on the same units with no problems. they are both BEC, so you have to disconnect the BEC link on one unit if they are being plugged into the same reciever. I run the same company controllers in my tanks and tank transporter as well. Hitec also use to do some good units but I,m not sure if these are still availible.
I always test each drive train on the bench before buying a speed controller, by connecting up a ampmeter and what ever drive batteries I'm going to use, with the drive train running (no load) measure the amps being pulled. Then I load the drive train by trying to stall it using a wooden clothes peg and attempting to stall the drive train, at this point observe the ampmeter and see what the max amp's is recorded. This allows me 2 things to know, what size fuze to fit to protect the speed controller and also what size speed controller to fit. To many times have I seen modellors guess at the size of controller to fit only to mostly fit to small a unit and after a couple of runs the unit is burnt out.
hope this info helps
