Electronics idiot needs help with smoker

Hi all,

I have a tiger 1 (surprise surprise) that came with a dead smoke unit. I'm handy with modifying things and taking it apart and putting back together, but mention AC/DC and OHM's and my head pops.

I've discovered the problem with my smoker, the heating wire is snapped. Now my problem is, I can re-attach it, only shorter, but my worry is, this will cause problems for my RX18??? (as I understand it, it's on the verge of exploding at the best of times, so I don't want to anger it)

Will I need to replace the wire or can I just shorten it? Can anyone explain smoker repairs in the MOST simple way possible please :)

(if anyone knows how to wire a fan on to replace that noisy piston, that would a huge help too)

Don't feel bad about being challenged by electronics stuff. All I know about electronics is that there are three kinds of circuits - printed circuits, short circuits, and three-ring circuits. -Mike
