Hi come to a bit of a stop here I'm trying to find some good outline drawings for this tank that I can scale to 1/12 scale. I have tried bovington and the royal artillary museum and also tried through the British Army.org to find some. I have a copy of W W P AS-90 Publication and its got some really good details photo's in it. Trying to get outline drawing with overall dimensions seems to be very hard to find possibly due to the unit still being in service. Does any one have an idea where else to try or could they help in any way. I don't mind paying P & P or scanning costs

Hi there hawkeye

I habe looked at doing the as90 in 1/16 ..and cannot locate any good drawings at all i looked for more than a year ..and was going to base the build on the running gear from a bulldog / pershing ....the only idea i come up with id buying a trumpeter 1/35 kit and scaleing up

hi there thanks for the reply I have also got a modern ground armour model in 1/72 of the AS-90 and as you said push comes to shove I'll try and draw my own plans. Thanks for looking if I come accross anything I'll let you know. My build will proberly be scratch built using ally or 1mm steel and plastic card and looking to use heng long boxes with King tiger tracks @ 1/12 scale the tracks are the right size but wrong pattern ( buts you got to use some poetic lisence and when there covered in that brown stuff cows leave in the fields who's to know) LoL.

I have a half build centurion FV4002 bridge layer on the bench at this moment. the hull and drive train are complete and the bridge sections are half built. My problem is I'm an engineer and for me the model has got to work as the original thats the fun for me. So for the last 18 months I have trying diffferant mechs and ideas trying to get the bridge to deploy using a mech that is in scale and keeping as the oringinal. I'm taking pics so when I eventually get her fininshed I'll put the pics on here.
Thanks for the help. as I said If and when I get some drawing done I'll put a post on here.

Hi fellow modellors
For information I have just found a site that has a good outline scaleable drawing for the AS-90. If you go to www.the-blueprints.com they have a selection of tank outline drawings, the drawings can be downloaded for a fee and come in several formats. I downloaded the PDF version and have just been to my local printers and they came out great and scaled beautifully to 1/12 scale giving a hull of 600mm L x 280mm W. These coupled with my WWP publication of the AS-90 Braveheart should be all I need to get started. I'm going to use heng long metal gear boxes running on 12v and king tiger tracks just like my 1/12 abrams they seem to give good mix of torque and speed and so far have been very reliable. I usa stardard 2.4ghz 6-7 channel radio and a company called mtronics do very reliable 15amp speed controllers, also a very realistic large diesel sound module including waterproof speaker for £60.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum and in the middle of scratch building a 1/12th Challenger 2. Like the AS90 I couldn't find any drawings so I've ended up measuring and scaling up a Tamiya 1/35 kit. Not ideal, but coupled with as many photos as I can find, I've managed to get there. Currently having fun trying to build the suspension. Very interested to hear what's been said re tracks, my next challenge, and internal stuff and will have a look at the mtronics kit.
Very impressed with the quality of what's going on, you guys have given me something to aim for. Thanks

Hi Just an update but I found a site through other members here. WWW. Blueprints.com and they have a nice set of outline drawings for the AS-90 (and other vehicles). For a small fee I brought them and then my local print shop just printed them out, you can go for any size you need. I'm going for 1/12 scale for a nice sized model and prenty of room for fitting out all the electrics.
