Hobby Boss Tiger I reanimation - best course?

Hi guys,
First dopey question of my illustrious career. Remember... you were there!
I've got a freebie 1:16 HB Tiger I static model that I reviewed on my modelling site, and am tempted to make it RC if I can get the job done cheap enough. I believe that its origins are with a company called WSN, which I'm guessing is part of the Trumpeter/Hobby Boss empire, and has been branded as Torro/Matorro in the past too.
Here's what I'm thinking. I can pick up a HL Tiger I online for around £50, and if I could transfer the electronics, motors and so forth to the HB "case", I'd be very interested in doing so. Is that a goer, or does the WSN/Matorro mould have different requirements for its running gear and turret mechanisms?
Any advice, opinions, tips or chastisement for being a silly newb will be gratefully received as long as it's polite
Mike.
