Pretty good base to start ! You have most of the important parts and in metal too boot. Good for you !

Curious to know why he use fiber optics and not LED. What's the big difference ? What is the electonic requirement for Fiber ?

You will like the Clak TK-20.

I have been buying Clark board from Curtis @ Immortal Hobbies and I think he is ordering a batch today so try to catch him (PM Freakydude. That's his forum name here). Everyone tells me that I should get Lipo Battery but the whole recharging thing scares the hell out of me and I am fine with high amp NiMH batteries and you can get them for fairly cheap on eBay (5000-6800 mAH). Can't help you on speakers........ Don't know much about them. The only upgrade I have done is from stock HL to Taigen (paper cone to alloy cone I guess).

Check to see if the Clark board works with your Spectrum Dx5E first. Curtis should be able to tell you. Otherwise you might want to think about RC2HL. I assume your Taigen tank came with the taigen MFU ?
