Asiamat recoil unit instalation
I have fitted a recoil unit to my Henge Long Tiger1 but do not know were the three loose wires coloured green, white and red go.
A picture would be very useful as i am thick when it comes to electronics.
THANKS P.C.

An awful lot of us have posted this SOS!
Latest discussion was here:

In it you will see a link to my Normandy Tiger 1 post where I try to make it simple enough for me - also an electronics dunce - to understand...

Re: Asiamat recoil unit instalation
Thank you for your info, but the tiger i have got is the later one without the little sqaure connector, so please where do the three wires go on the eight pin connector. THANK YOU.
Re: Asiamat recoil unit instalation
Paul,
Sometimes they use different colour wires for the same thing so it is best that you take a pic and show us where the connections are originating from. You can also just try tracing them and use the following diagram for wiring:
The 3 PIN connector in the middle is the missing square connector you are talking about. So if you trace back to the recoil unit you should be able to match the wiring.

Please can you help.
Re: Asiamat recoil unit instalation
Hey Paul,
I actually didn't mean it literally to connect it to a 3 pin connector, but just that those three wires need to goto PIN 3/4/5 on the 8 pin hull board. I assumed that's what you meant, right ? HL uses the square 3 pin board as the connector, and some folks would swap that with a 3 pin connector so that they can detach the turret from the upper hull easier.
What is the IR kit that you got ? Does it have a high intensity flash unit as well ? Was your Tiger I IR before or is it a BB ? Also, make sure that you have your battery charged up before proceeding, as your last problem seems to indicate low battery (i.e. no flash and tank does not respond and just keep iding.).
Again, if you can send a pic of the interior it would be helpful.

Re: Asiamat recoil unit instalation
Thanks Micael C
My tank was a bb version, the flash unit came with the recoil unit and the battey was charged. I pluged the three pin connecter into the 3 pins on the side of the 8 pin connector, but aftercloser inspection this was wrong as this conected to yellow, brown & green which i think has fried my RX18. Do you confer? Also i do not know how to put pictures on here sorry not much help.
thanks again for your help Paul.

Re: Asiamat recoil unit instalation
Paul,
RX-18 are pretty robust so I don't think you fried it yet. When you hit reply to this email, you should have a button next to "submit" that is label Full Editor, if you click that you will get additional section underneath, one tab being options, and the other tab labelled upload attachment. click upload attachment and you should have the option of uploading pictures to the post. make sure the pics are less than 300k in size though.
So did you connect the three wires to a 3 pin connector ? I thought the three wires were loose ? If there are loose you should be able to solder them directly on to the 8 pin connector board. I had to open up my Tiger I this weekend and it also has an Asiatam recoil installed but unfortunately the have a yellow rather than a white wire coming out so I am not too sure if it is the same wiring and therefore the picture would help identify them.
The main thing is that you need to make sure the right wire is going to the right place and not based the wiring on colour of the wires. I swear HL guys just grab whatever they have and solder them so you can never tell. If you can trace the three loose wires back to the recoil unit and tell us exactly where it is connected to then I can tell you exactly where they should go.
I have some extra RX-18s lying around if you did fry yours. I can sell them for you for couple of bucks if you pay for postage as well. I assummed you are across the pond ? I just sold some spare parts to another tanker at Portsmouth and the package got there in 3 days......
