Hi Guys!
I'm working on a mod of an HL King tiger and, I need help for making zimmerit.
For the 1/35 scale I have some tools that help, but I don't have any Idea of how model the putty in 1/16 scale.
Did someone built a selfmade tool to do this job?
I saw on the net few solution with solder but I don't want to destroy the tank!
There is a guide in the forum that I can follow??
I tried to find some thing but I just had general discussions on "zimmerit".
May, please someone that has already build the zimmerit on his tank help me??
May thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Will.

Re: Help! Zimmerit x King tiger 1/16 HL
Hey Will , I tried Zimmerit for the first time on my Mid Production Tiger build a week ago
I did cut a few 25mm & 40mm strips of styrene card and practiced on these first , if you go to the link below , about half way
down the pages you will find photo's and comments on how I got on with Zimmerit for the first time .
Good thing is you can simply scrape it off before it hardens if you dont like it. just be patient , many photo's of Zimmerit are
not perfect patterns , so yours dont have to be either.
Im no expert , far from it but I am patient and was prepared to scrape it off if i did not like it (twice !) . Try it

Hi Bob,
at your place I wouldn't take in any case a solder iron for making Zimmerit on a tank. I know a good example for making Zimmerit and send you the link to this site: http://www.ampscv.org/tutorials.html
I have my Zimmerit on my Tiger 1 and 2 made, how it is described there, my tool for that was a screw driver. Pictures of my results can you see here in the forum, for Tiger 1: http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 33&t=10054 and from Tiger 2 here: http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 33&t=10690.
However on my King tiger from Torro only at the turret, on lower hull and on the rear plate, because on the upper hull it was already there (an design mistake from Torro).
It's a big fumbling, but the result is okay and the paste is after drying very hard and fixed.
Try it out...

Re: Help! Zimmerit x King tiger 1/16 HL
I use green putty and a metal cutting hacksaw blade.....not a big deal.

I used to use milliput but now use tile cement. Sticks well to plastic try on some scrap first.

Re: Help! Zimmerit x King tiger 1/16 HL
I suppose the day will come when I shall have to apply zimmerit but the Panzer 4 and the Tiger 1 on my bench are both early pre-zimmerit so I down-load all the pictures and keep putting it off, ( who said chicken?). shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Help! Zimmerit x King tiger 1/16 HL
Thank you guys!
I will try with the guide and I'll let you know about the result.
It seams to be not easy anyway.
Cheers,
Will.
