14 ohms 1watt ceramic resistor for smoker unit?

Post by centmk4 »

Anyone managed to obtain these specifically from a UK source?

So far I have had no success in locating a supplier here. Any ideas chaps? :)

I got mine from a seller on ebay some time ago - they need to be wire wound resistors to work as heating elements for smokers, so make sure you are searching for the right type.

Looks as if I'm on a hens teeth quest then Jonger.:(: I've also tried to find somewhere that stocks resistance wire of a suitable gauge to replace the existing, also with no luck at all so far.

Oh! also my profound apologies as I believe this post should of been in the electronics section,

Doh! dorfer chap that I am. :{

Thinking back I think mine are 15 ohm and they seem more common, I did a quick search on farnell's website and came up with this list
http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse ... 1%2B203968
Hope that helps

Tried 18 Ohm 0.5W and it was still a bit fast for my liking, and 27 Ohm 0.25W was about right except that then I noticed turning left is slower than turning right, and also the longer the motor is running the slower it gets. I guess because HL simply reverses the polarity for left and right turn, it depends on where (-neg or +pos) you put the resistors, you will get different turning speed.

Don't know enough about resistor to say if the wattage makes the difference as well, and also while the longer I run the motor the slower it gets.........

I'm confused...Your thread is called" 14 ohms 1watt ceramic resistor for smoker unit?"
Are you looking for a resistor for a smoker unit or resistors to lower the speed on the motors of your tank ????
