Sticky Tracks!!

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well and all your tanks and builds are running smoothly.

I'm having an issue with my Heng Long Tiger 1. I ran it today and noticed that the tracks are getting pinched as if they are sticking to the drive sprocket when the tank is in forward motion. This doesn't seem to effect the tanks performance, but I'm worried it is causing unnecessary strain.

This didn't used to happen. I have painted my tracks and sprockets, but the tracks bend smoothly and the paint is very thin and doesn't clog anywhere. I'm wondering if the paint could be causing some friction? I've also recently installed Waltersons brass gearboxes, I don't know if this could be a possible cause?

Has anyone else had this issue and maybe know a fix?

It may not be the track itself not bending smoothly but the paint is sticking to the sprocket itself. It happens to my Tiger as well when I first painted the sprockets. After the teeth paint wears out it was fine. In your case it will take longer since the track is painted.

Thanks Michael. I'll run it like crazy over the next few days and see if starts to loosen up. failing that i may try scraping some paint off the sprocket teeth.

Try placing something between the tank and the floor or tabble top keeping the tracks free to move, and let it continue to run in both directions, this will work the sprocket & track connection clean of paint.

Thanks, i'll give it a try. I think suspending the tank should stop the sticking while the paint wears off too if the tracks are hanging down. Good thinking.
