1/18 M48A3 to RC

Hi Guys,
Any help or advice here is wanted!
I have the 21st C. M48A3 in 1/18 scale and would like to convert to RC. The rubber band track is no good. I've read some people have used 1/16 Pershing track. Would the 1/16 pershing stuff be close enough to the wider M48 track, considering the smaller 1/18???
