Hi guys,
I have seen this pic of a leopard 1A4
Image
Does anyone know if the £ type symbol is an actual tank regiment insignia, and if so which one ?
It's obviously German but has no other marking on the hull or turret, just the pound sign on the left and rear of the turret and the number plate type marking, Y-020 148 to front and rear of the hull.
If it is a real tank regiment, I would like to make my own decals to replicate it on my Leopard 1A4, as the £ sign seems quite appropriate conidering the amount of bloody money its cost me :haha:
cheers

Hi Sparks,
I'm not sure, but it looks like the 'L' written like £ for a Lehr or intructional Panzer unit...like the WW2 Pz Lehr Regiment.

Hey guys,

I've seen that symbol utilized by the German Army in Kosovo in 1999. I beleive it might have belonged to the 9th Panzer Lehr Brigade. They had those insignias on their Leo 2's. They have a few Lehr battalion/regiments/brigades that have the Lehr name or symbol in it. I've also seen a very basic DAK symbol in Kabul used by the German ISAF force in 2004. It was just the Palm Tree. Hope this helps...
