I've seen that a few people have built their own tanks and I just wondered if anyone has ever built a British tank or a WW1 tank?

I think unless you are a god in the modelling the world who can make 100% of your tank parts, your going to be stuck with using part readily available.
I mean some people can probably make the main tank body, but if you need to make working tracks or road wheels then you struggle.
I've seen a comet tank but that is about it British wise. Although rumour has it heng long have a challanger 2 in the pipeline.

a centurion made out of a HL m26....he used panther tracks and drive wheels....if someone does not make the tank you want pick a tank with roughly the same layout and start chopping....

Currently working on a both a Cromwell and Crusader - both based on Bulldog chassis as it has the right wheel layout just needs smaller idlers and the suspension is close to the original layout, most of it is hidden by the outer side plates so the differences are not noticeable.
It just needs a lot of modification to the decks and turrets but that's half the fun.
Progress is slow - I have too many projects on the go at once I should really concentrate on one at a time.

in a wave of patriotism, decided to build a brit tank
i have a 1:35 crusader & matilda static model kits to scale from.
so a crusader it is!
unfortunatley there's already a crusader 2 built in this forum
& it's a work of art, knowing full well mine would look poo in comparison, went for the matilda
it's a long hard slog & i'll put a build post on here soon,
with all the nightmares i'm having & there's quite a few!
i'm hoping it will be a slightly amusing & informative thread.
But alas like jonger, i've many other projects on the go, so the matty is on the back burner for a bit
cheers
lister

Hi, A while ago I built a 1/12th scale T 34 from 3mm ply and used H/L steel gearboxes and a 6volt SLA 4amp battery. Recently I've just finished a 1/12th scale Cromwell Mk 4 using the same build method . They are both posted in Larger scale military section, Regards.

hi I have been working on a british bridge layer (FV4002) based on the centurion hull for over a year now. The running gear is from a KV with a highly modified hull its taking so long because of trying to make the bridge laying mechanism work and still look scale.
I have also just recieved the plans for the AS-90 that is going to be my next project at 1/12 scale.
