Tamiya gearbox and Elmod ECO problem

Maybe sb have experience in this subject?

I have some problems with Elmod ECO - 1.07 firmware and Tamiya gearbox (Panther)

The tank turning curve at low or higher speed is v. big . I tried Graupner and Futaba RC and the problem is the same

When the tank is stopped and then became to turn - all its OK , tank is turning sharply

But the problem is when tank is moving (at low or higher speeds) and then became to turn
the inner chain is moving practically with the same speed as the outer - especially when tank is moving on the surface having a bigger friction (carpet).

I tried to change all possible parameters in ECO configuration but with no any effects- especially three listed below responsible for tank turning radius:

Outer chain overdrive
Inner chain overdrive
Inner chain brake limit

Later I changed motors from original Tamiya to stronger Graupner speed 400 and in the end
to long can M02 black motors from ETO Armor , its better but still not good

Maybe other type of motors or gearboxes are recomended?

what about Mitosal gearboxes with DDG?

And one more question

I ve found information that Tamiya standard (Panther. Tiger) gearboxes have about 1/60 ratio - is it true?

What real ratio have Heng Long black metal "3:1" gearboxes?

1. Comparing those two types of gearboxes with the same type of motors installed which will have more torque - Tamiya or Heng Long 3:1

2. When instead of Tamiya gearbox I will use for example Mitosal gearboxes /with DDG?/ - will the torque be stronger ?

3. Is Elmod ECO working good with HL (Asiatam?) 3:1 black metal gearboxes - is turnig radius OK

Hi wsn123

Testing my memory here but I'm sure over the years ive read a few people with elmod having simular issues so that would suggest it is a setting rather than the gearbox.

Sorry cant be more helpful.

Ian.

Well I been searching on another forum where I remember seeing a thread on the Elmod and unfortinately the guy never said how he sorted the problem just that he was messing with a custom profile (makes no sense to me who doesn't have Elmod) I presume instead of the loaded setup.

Hi wsn123,

I think a few month ago I had the same problem. My problem was the firmware version, I changed myself the board fw-version to v 1.06 and since then, everything is fine. It was a failure in the firmware, can you also change your firmware version yourself like me?

Hi wsn123,

yes, I understand you but this was not my question. My question was: "Can you make the firmware update yourself?" The actual version is number 1.11. ???
Very important is also the setup for the motors, described in the manual under chain motors (http://www.elmod.eu/manuals.php?osCsid= ... 47b409to02).

In the next days comes my new ElMod Eco for my Tamiya Panther (I hope so), then we have the same conditions and we will see what's the matter. ;)

Yes I can - I tried 1.10 version also but with no effect. I dont like version higher than 1.07 because there is a long time for scaning RC - in my RC its some seconds. Versions 1.06 BL or higher can be reprogram by user . I mentioned about ECO configuration (three more importrant parameters for tank turn radius) in my first post.

Hi wsn123,

has the whole thing in the past ever worked in your Panther or do you have this problem from the beginning? And what is with the setup of the motors? Make sure that this is well done, exactly how described in the manual. In each other case you must change the motor cables and repeat the setup.
Make sure that you have no bad solder joints.
I would try only with gearboxes and ElMod, without any other things installed.

And if this all don't helps, in a few days I can say whether my Panther works with ElMod Eco.
Okay, now it is 11:15 p.m. =

Hi wsn123,

as I have already announced, I've yesterday received my Elmod Eco. The module has the firmware version 1.10 and it is a BL version.
Immediately I have my module try out and what should I have to say?
It's working really fine, my profile is user defined and I have saved my own configuration.
However I can try at the moment only with gearboxes and ElMod Eco, because my Blaster isn't yet delivered.
I will now wait onto my Blaster and then it will go on with the installation.

But this is now the answer of the question, ElMod Eco and Tamiya gearboxes work very well together, really.
