very nice. Quick question..... Is the company # and the insignia hand painted on or really really soft sliding decals ? Is the barrel stock or after market ? Looks a little long for some strange reason. Love the rust effect on the fenders. Great job.

hi Michael,
All the insignia are hand painted. The barrel is stock. thanks for the kind words on the rust effect - i used brick dust, ground cat litter, varnish and burnt umber acrylic paint diluted with water then slopped it on with a paint brush, let it dry then varnished over the top

Hi Michael C,
This King Tiger has the 'MonoBloc' 88mm gun fitted, so it doesn't have the 'step' in the barrel like the later 'two piece' barrel has. This makes the gun look longer because the main visible part of the barrel is slimmer.
The 'single-piece' barrel also seems to 'stick out' more from the turret than the 'two piece' despite the fact that they are both the KWK 88 L/71 and so are technically the same overall length .
SINGLE PIECE BARREL ON A 'PORSCHE' PROTOTYPE TURRETED VERSION
TWO PIECE BARREL ON A STANDARD PRODUCTION TURRETED VERSION
TWO 'PORSCHE' TURRETED VERSIONS ON A FIRING RANGE....THE ONE THE ONE IN THE FOREGROUND HAS THE TWO PIECE BARREL THE ONE IN THE BACKGROUND HAS THE SINGLE PIECE BARREL
.

I forgot that the Porsche design turret has one piece and two piece version......... I guess the one piece really did an optical illusion on me. I preferred the Henschel turret so never really study the Porsche design turret all that much.
