My First Tiger Tank.

Hi All,
I have just taken delivery of a HL Tiger1, bought off Ebay no smoke or sound. Thought the purchase price of £50 was about right. Over the coming months i would like to carry out some basic mods, metal tracks/sprockets and a new paint job etc. The problem is i have very little mechanical knowledge and will probably be leaning heavily on you all for advice. What do you think i should do to it first ?. Obviously a simple job to boost my confidence a bit. I thank you in advance for your advice guys.
Regards Adrian.

Hi Adrian,
Welcome to the Forum

........You will be able to find plenty of people to help you on here. The Heng Long that you have there is probably an early one....So the length of the main gun barrel is the most 'Glaring' point to correct. You can buy extension pieces to correct the barrel length...but this might be a point to start the upgrade process by correcting the gun mantle as well.....It is fitted upside down on the kit.....
Here is a link to the main points to put 'Right' on the Tiger.....

This is also a good 'Photo..How To Strip Your Tiger '

Its probably best to start out by taking the hull apart.....BUT..you do have to be careful NOT to break off any wires that are connected to the circuit board....SO..
before you do that please can you post a photo of the 'Transmitter' so that we can tell what kind you have got ?
Regards,
Alb.

Thanks Dietrich, i will take a pic of the transmitter asap and post for you to take a look at. Cant wait to get started. I fear there may be some pit falls along the way, i normally only have to look at something and it breaks lol. Will post pic of the transmitter tomorrow, thanks again.

Hi churchill,
I think that most of the mods are listed.....but a photo of the transmitter will tell us what 'Receiver Board' to expect inside the Tiger...My guess is an RX 13 or RX 14...so a small computer fan will be on the list of 'Must Buys' before the Tiger sees too much action ..

Thanks again Dietrich. I will have to do something to give it more scale speed too, testing it tonight it scoots around quicker than some rc cars i have had. Not much like the lumbering giants i think they were in real life. Maybe a different ratio gearbox ?

Hi churchill,
P.M. sent....the Tiger is not
that slow...a good one in 8th gear could touch 30MPH...with a tail wind...

...not sure about the stopping distance though, at that speed....

Have sent you pm Dietrich, it is an abc transmitter.Never knew they could touch 30mph, must have been a terrifying sight for many a sherman crew.Forgot to ask what basic tools you think i should get before i attempt to strip it down, thanks.

Hi Alb,
Just sent you a pm this morning. My tiger lost a drive sprocket during garden trials recently, and shed a track as a result. Repairs are in hand. Seems as good a time as any to split the hull and carry out a few mods under your kind instructions.
Regards
Churchill.
