Hi Folks
I recently joined your club after finding you on the internet, what a cracking site this is!
I have an old LEO 1A4 and i am in need of a few parts and I was hoping you guys can help, I have already sourced some trees and there are 4 other body parts (i Hope!!) that I still need and I was hoping you guys may be able to help me with these:
C8 Tailgate
C6 The bit the main gun goes in
B3 Mud Guard
B9 Part of MG mount
Sorry I don't know the technical names for these parts as I am a tank Novice
My other question is does anybody know of a good de-bonder for the cement used to glue these parts?
Any help or advice is much appreciated.
Thanks for any help

Hi and welcome fellow Leopard 1 owner.
I think you need to be a bit more specific. I have parts, but I need to know what you want.

Hi Andy
Thanks for responding, I have taken the part numbers fron the instruction manual, from the c-parts tree i need c8 which is the large piece of plastic that practically make up the whole rear end of the tank and the on/off switch goes on it is a big part probably and i am guessing measures about 150 mm wide, the c 6 part is the part that holds the main gun ou the turret, it moves up and down with the gun and the search light fastens to it. B3 is the rear left hand mud guard that hangs down off c8, now how i explain b9? well it is mart of the machine gun assembly it looks like it allows the small part of the assembly to rotate up and down, it looks like a small plastic bush, if my explanations are still rubbish please let me know and i will try again
What a beautiful tank these are, i used to have a sherman but it ate its gearbox so i sold it, after this one is complete i have a persching to finish but this is by far the nicest looking tank i have had, hoping to get it fully functional then build a glass case with some scenery and display in the front room on a shelf, was nicely built originally so should not be too hard to finish off if i can get hold of the parts, if you can possibly help that would be great and much appreciated.
Thanks for your interest and help
Ben

Hi
So you want the rear end? Mine is made from Brass. I don't have the pastic one. I'd suggest the same to you.
The other part sounds like the Mantlet. Sorry can't help there.
Mud gauards. I haven't got them either, I'll be making mine from a sheet of rubber.
The gun part? not sure I'll take a look when I get the chance. I have a few sprues that I've collected.
Take a look at mine while your at it.

Looks great Andy!
Thanks for looking in your parts stash for me, I have a rear end but it is slightly broken and I want my Leo to look like a new build, I'm not too worried about how long it takes to get the parts I need but obviously the sooner the better!!
If by chance you come across the B9 part that would be great, think i will pinch the whip lash aerial though, they are tops!!
Do you know of a good glue de-bonder because that would possibly rescue the c6 part and make my life soooo much easier
Tanks for your help
Hope to hear from you soon
PS a side profile shot of your tank would be nice to see and what is liquid masking??, might need some on another project
Cheers
Ben

Hi and thanks
Glue de-bonder, no such thing really. Most glues melt the plastic and that welds it together. You'll have to summon up the courage and just pull things apart.
Liguid mask is

Don't leave it on for too long. it goes a bit gooey. But it is great for masking scratched areas. Don'y apply it all over the place you'll end up with it stuck in places you'll never get it out of. I'll sort out another pic for you later. I finish at 12 tomorow, I'l have a look for that bit

Ben:
The American Armor Foundation Museum in Danville, VA has one of the best selection of parts for Tamiya tanks in stock. You might contact them. They are less expensive than Tamiya and the service is fantastic. This is the link to your specific tank.

Hi Andy
Hope you are well, thanks for the info on the masking, If you do come across B9, please let me know, once i have all the parts i need i will start this little Leo, don't like starting projects until i know i can finish them and i have far too many on the go at the moment. Love to see that side profile of your cammo Leo when you get chance.

Ben:
If you want to order them and they won't ship them to you directly I have an idea. Send me a PM if they won't. I know the one who manages personally and I can probably help. If not, I have a second idea. I had to broker some items and ship them for Forebear to the UK.
