Hello :)

Been toying with getting a proper RC tank for a while, and figured I had better get myself onto a decent forum for advice, inspiration and what have you. So here I am.

Not a novice to RC or to modelling, so I don't plan to keep my tanks stock either. Going to go for a Heng Long tank for starters, as they seem to offer best value and will give me a start. Been agonising over which one!

Everyone seems to go for a Tiger... but I prefer the less common. I've decided to start off smaller, so am looking for a Panzer III to start with. I want to build my favourite mid war tank... the Panzer III N. Want to keep it BB firing too, as it's just more fun that way. The stock L model is a good base...and will just need to have a few mods like a new 75L24 barrel ( could use hte short barelled IV gun if I can find one somewhere) and Schurzen.

Lots of lovely detail to be added too before painting. Would also love to know if it's possible to make a gun recoil with BB's as well......instead of that silly hull moving thing. That looks daft when you rotate the gun to fire to the side...

Anyways....that's all for the future! First I got to go buy me a tank :)

Hi and welcome to the forum

I'm not a fan of the panzer 3 so can't help there but plenty are so sure they will help.

For upgrade parts check out Welsh Dragon Models, Steve there gives 150% services so you can't go wrong. As for the silly track recoil check this out http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/drag ... 1796-p.asp

Good luck and look forward to seeing details of your build when you share it.

Ian.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Already drooling over the stuff at Welsh Dragon Models .... so many pretty things....so many! Just makes me want to spend a lot of money!

Definitely going to check out the recoiling airsoft.....that's one I missed on my searching! Thanks for the tip ;)

Some nice pics on the PzKfwIII link. The N model I want to make was a conversion of L & M models as well as series production, so there is a lot of scope in terms of the tank itself. Any detailed refernce pics like that are helpful...as well as nice to look at!

Got a fair few reference works already as I have been building 1/35 and 1/72 scale AFV's for many years, but you can only have so much fun with a static non moving object. All the fun was in the building. With these...you get the build fun..but afterwards they move :)

I have been used to a slightly faster pace of RC life ( 1/5 scale off road buggies) where performance and durability was the thing. This is a more relaxed pace....but just as much to tinker with....and just as many shiny things to spend money on! Think I am going to enjoy RC tanks!
