Last summer I had the opportunity to talk to Phil at RCTankwars two or three times before his sad and untimely death. What a great guy. He truly seemed interested in answering questions you posed to him. He never rushed your conversation. I can see why a lot of hobbiests miss him.
He advised me he was getting in a plug and play metal turret for the hl tiger 1. He said all the hatches opened and it had recol including IR. Could anyone out there advise if it is available anywhere else. He stated that it would be cheaper to purchase this turret than buy all the items seperatley. Thanks in advance. Brian

Are you sure it was recoil & IR, or recoil & flash?

WelshDragon has the Taigen Tiger I metal turret that comes with the Asiatam recoil unit & flash already fitted, but also comes with the upper plastic hull. Tiger 1 metal turret with recoil unit, with plastic upper hull.

I believe it would fit the HL Tiger I, but I'm not 100% sure. I believe they were also supposed to have the turret alone without the upper hull, but again, I'm not sure. You could email them & inquire more.

Thanks for the info but I had sent an email to Welshdragon about two weeks ago and asked if it would fit the hl. I was told it fits the Taigen lower unit and nothing was said about it fitting the hl. So I can only assume it wont fit. Shame as a nice unit. Thanks for the idea though. Brian

I would be surprised if it doesn't fit the HL lower, speaking as someone who has attached an HL upper to a Taigen lower. The way the Taigen lower connects to the HL upper relies on the screw mounts coming down from the engine deck, so these would need to be retained on the Taigen upper anyway... The overall dimensions and 'fit' will certainly be the same...
