Panther(Pantiger) to Tiger Conversion

Well recently I came into possession of a HL Pantiger, my first 1/16 tank for free. It needs a controller and battery, but I've got those too coming to me now so all should be good so far.
I'm a sucker for detail, so I've decided to convert my Pantiger into a Tiger. I'll be utilizing the Panthers chassis and electronics etc. and order a Turret, correct length gun, top deck and rear panel. I'm hoping then to convert this to mid / late model, with zimmerit, the works :) Would love as much critiscism (constructive) as possible! My only issue so far fiddling around with the turret electronic and moving them from the panther to the tiger turret without doing to much.
Watch this space!

Tempting, though I have no skill with blasa wood or filler.......yet :)

I also want to keep the cost low at the moment and don't want it to be too time consuming hence why I've gone for the easier project. The thought of the jagdpanther had crossed my mind.

why not convert to a panther f or g ? Ive got a pantiger that was my 1st go at rc tanks and am gonna convert the front and possibly get a smaller turret and longer gun.

huge job...the tiger hull is much wider and the running gear is all wrong.

Isn't the Pantiger just a botched Panther top on a standard HL Tiger bottom? If so you can pick up complete Tiger hull & turrets for a few quid on ebay and the electronics should be compatible.

That would be my suggestion also. Try contacting tankforce1 on ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/tankforce1/TIG ... 34.c0.m322 he often sells parts from stripped down HL tanks. Or you maybe lucky finding a cheap hull top complete elsewhere.

As for the electronics all the parts are well same just about all the tanks so you shouldn't have an issues there.

I think you struggle to convert to a late version as the road wheels for the conversion wont fit the HL chassis, mid you should get away with the same wheels as the early.

Yup thats exactly what I was going to do! Thanks for the link, i can now get the tiger turret a whole 5 pounds cheaper (important to a student :) ). I've worked out its going to cost me £30 + postage to create a new upper (which bare in mind has the correct length barrel).

Thanks for the info on the electronics and wheels guys, its much appreciated! I need to convert the tank to a metal gearbox and the rx18 first, then i'm going to start work on detailing the tiger parts etc. I'll be keeping the panther hull and turret to perfect my painting skills and other bits and bobs which will come later on in the project!

With the metal gearboxes I recommend the black metal type much better quality than the steel or brass ones.

Dont forget to post pictures in the build section, we like watching builds coming along. ;)

Yup will do. Annoying that the black type gearboxes are twice the price, but oh well! Get for what you pay for I guess :)
