Tiger and Panther hatches and R/C Unit

Dear all

firstly thanks to all those who have advised me to date. I plucked up the courage at the weekend to disassemble my tiger 1. I've repositioned the aerial to the correct spot. However I may need to replace the smoke unit as this refuses to work - any ideas if it is worth stripping down to ascertain the problem ? I need to source bits and pieces for the hatches (when they are open) to add a little more realism ie hatch pull downs, circular wheel handles (like the inside doors on a submarine) any advice on where to get them ? I 'm also unsure that the scale of the 88mm gun kooks wrong or is it just my imagination. How easy is the barrel to change ?

As for my Pantiger. Now I have the confidence on taking the tank apart, I want to change the shape of the front hull armour. This HL Panther looks like a mk4 or tiger at the front. I want to shape it to look like a D or a G version. I have a piece of plastic paper, quite thick so would anyone have a template that would allow me to cut correctly. I don't really want to start measuring stuff before I start cutting into the existing hull . Also the turret seems rather large so will this need replacing along with the 88mm gun down to a 75mm.

One other thing; when i turn the tank on the R/C unit starts doing its own thing ! As soon as it's turned on, it goes immediately into reverse ! Any ideas how i cancel this program on the R/C unit ?

Pictures to follow soon.

I wait with baited breath !

Cheers Guys, Doc

The smoke unit is a source of grief for lots of people, the main fault is the heating coil breaks, the best fix is to change it for a wire wound resistor then the unit still plugs in a works as intended. If you look in the electronics section there is a subsection dedicated to smokers which will give you some ideas.
Barrels and turret sizes are governed by the need to get the BB unit in the turret and fire 6mm BB's so you can only change them if going for IR instead of BB firing models.
It sounds like your trimmer is full down if it goes straight into reverse, try centering the trimmer for the motors (black sliding button next to the joystick)
Hope that helps.

Hi Doc Larsson, my HL electronics has to have the right side slider nearly all the way forward , only then will it idle
