I have a Hooben Elephant, and as most know, there are no electronics. What are most using in these? I was considering Tamiya Tiger I DMD and MFU, however they are quite pricey. Any suggestions from those who have built one of these monsters?

I thought SLU was the Hooben choice of electronics. But last week or so their website started selling the Clark TK20 for the T55 tank was showing on their website so maybe their no prefer the Clark board.
I've a Tiger TK20 and it is good sound quality so maybe try that or contact Clark Model and see if he do a custom sound for your tank. (Or Hooben might already asked like the T55)

I am most familar with Tamiya electronics and the ease of set up. ( expect the PITA Pershing unit) I'm using in my Firefly. I just haven't seen the units together for under about 350.00. I noted that even Hooben isn't selling all the componets for the Elephant. If someone has a spare set that they'd like to sell, please advise.

Ive used both the slu and the tamiya tiger electronics and mine. Be aware if you use the tamiya electronics you have to rewire the recoil

What is a SLU? I am trying to find something that works well with sound without coughing up 350.00 for it. Suggestions are always welcome. Most of the builds I have been involved with are Tamiya tanks.

Since you are in the US....look here.....
http://soundandlightunit.weebly.com/index.html
Some people have said they are produced the same maker as the Clark...
http://www.clark-model.com/eng/index_e.html
I have no idea is that is true so please do not quote me....I bought 2 clark boards and then found out the first batch did not have the battle damage effect on powering down the motors( clark found that if you cut power to the stock hl motor gear boxes, the tanks turned into pill boxes.....Duh) and you wonder why we buy 3:1 gear boxes for hl tanks.....
anyway, I am told the sul guys up north are selling slu's faster than they can be made, so if you want one, contact them and get on the list.....or you can look at clark, they do have the option of running tamiya apples and different recoils.....good luck, hope that helps...

Thank you! That looks like a great idea. I noted the electronics for the Pzr IV too, which would be great for the HL/ Profiline Brummbar I will be building.

I have been contacting the Candian supplier of the SLU modules and have not received a reply as of yet. The website is still up. Has anyone heard anything?

If you want to use Tamiya electronics, Tamiya USA has the Jagdpanther MFU on sale for $50.89.
That would cut the costs a bit.

That's incredibly cheap for a Tamiya MFU. I will have to find a DMD . Thank you, Buckeye.
