how much smaller is a 1/18 scale to a 1/16 have my eye on one going cheap

from what i know raven there is a difference in size, but not much, some people use 1/18 figures with their 1/16 tanks, you can get away with it, so if one is going cheap, go for it, i would

Beware of the postage! They suckered me in with $12 for the tank, and then stung me for $28 to ship it - and that was within the US!

The tank itself isn't too bad once you throw away the electronics and the rubber tracks, and fit HL panzer 3 tracks and controls. The only tricky bit is prising apart the drive sprockets and spacing them ever so slightly to engage on the hL tracks.
There's room enough in the turret to extend the back of the gun assembly to engage on a HL elevation motor - which you can epxoy straight onto the turret ring.

Not a bad little tank for tooling around the living room with, but it has no suspension and its too lightweight to run well outdoors - and I'm not sure the drivetrain is up to much either

Yep Nigel, thats the one I have and the comments on the tracks don't really do justice to how truely dreadful they are!

I might yet paint mine, but its most likely going to be donated to friends kids now that I have used the turret schurzen as a pattern for my HL build - it'll give them experience of driving the tanks without breaking any of my stuff!

I already had spare tracks, an elevation motor, and a non S&S transmitter and receiver board left over from another project, so all it cost me was an afternoon's brutality with a screw driver and a tube of epoxy.
If you were to go out and buy these parts AND the tank, you'd probably end up spending almost as much as you would on a S&S HL Panzer IV anyway...

looks like a good candidate for a shelf queen IMHO

Yeah, in the hands of my friend's 3 year old, I'd give it half an hour before its in the dustbin
