RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi Guys,
My First tank arrived this morning - a Heng Long Tiger. So I guess im a junior tanker now!
I was a Tank mechanic in the army, but that was a long time ago, and a load more messy than playing with an R/C one.
Ive had a quick look at things on the Tiger, and the pistol port is round the right way, the barrel seems the proper length, but the cupola needs adjusting - am I right in assuming that there have been some corrections made to them?
I have a futaba 6ex tx/rx set, is there anyway I can get that to work - to save money on batteries and get a longer range?

Hey Tony,

Welcome to the forum. In reference to the HL Tigers, there are some minor corrections to be made if you wish to have an accurate tank and that is pending the production type you want, ie. Early, Mid or Late Production. If you get bitten by the detail bug check out Steve at Welsh Dragon (he is on this forum and check out the vendors site), he is by far the best for aftermarket parts. Hi tony and welcome to the forum , my first tank was HL tiger great tank but a few mods needed depending on how detailed you want it and where your going to use your tank , ie outdoors for me so metal tracks and gear box was needed the nylon gears and track just don't cut it out doors but indoors they will last some time , everyone on this forum are very helpfull and friendly , most of all enjoy yourself

My first tank was also a HL Tiger I in early version and I have rebuilt him to a late version.
Sorry Red Devils, but I think for a correctly Tiger I tank there are not only minor corrections to do but also major corrections. A too short gun barrel, the rotation point of turret and his position on upper hull are great mistakes by HL for me, regardless of the version you want to build. Okay, when nobody knows it and nobody disturb it... Howsoever it's a matter of personal taste.
But no fear Tony, a junior tank mechanic in rc can manage it and the forum will helps you ever, really!

Tony, there is lots to do to them, you just have to decide how far you want to take it. My Tiger may be done in the new year, here's hoping, wife deciding. Luckly, I have a Tamiya Leo 2A6 to play around with and to take out to the firing ranges. If you want to correct some of the obvious issues and have a fun running garden Tiger, what you have is great. I think we understand us right; Henglong's tanks are not bad and it's great fun to drive with them or shoot. But for a scale model, there is a lot to do and we decide ourselves how exactly we intend to implement this.
It remains a matter of time, of skill, of money and of the personal taste.

Isn't your HL tank roadworthy (RTR), so with the RX 18 control and also with remote control?
I hope I understand you right, you want that your tank works with the Futaba system? I'm not electronic specialist but I believe not.
The radio control of Futaba would obviously better quality, but have a look at the HL receiver and the RX 18 controller right in your tank, there is no connection for the Futaba receiver, not a chance, at least not for me.
A other way to bring the Futaba system to work is when you use servos and drive regulators, but then is the HL technique not needed. There are also ready controlboards for tanks from other manufacturers, but they also cost money and you wanted to save money so.
Oh, batteries with higher capacity bring of course a greater range.

Hi there and wellcome to the forum! I'm one of the founding members of the Rc tank club in Hyde Manchester. One of our members as a device made buy Rc tanks of Australia it's cost around £25 and plugs in were the heng long receiver plugs in this then allows you to plug in you aftermarket handset and will then allow you to use your radio set! The member in question is on this forum he's called Tankbear give him a pm and he will be able to tell you were to get one and wether your hand set will work with it!
