Ahh can’t get it to work. :headbang:

The camo is away, NATO Green to cover the Soviet dark green. I suspect the Ugandans have used a similar shade of cam to the NATO ones as some sort of familiarity to the good guys, a bit like wearing a team jersey on game day to feel there is a link to something bigger !!!
The Tan is a blend of Dark Yellow 2 with some Olive Green added. It’s actually more subdued than the pics show, but weathering will aid in the final look.

What's your estimation, Bix, of the effect of the black pre-shading? I fear that by the time I use a base color and camouflage, the black will be buried, especially since the objective of airbrushing is even coverage. Is there a trick?

Pre-shading is something I suck at. The whole idea is to put a LIGHT coat of paint over the pre-shading so that it creates some fake shadows. I always get heavy handed with the paint so I just do my shading after the tank is painted. It's just a preference. Some people pre and post shade, but to me that's just too much work...lol I really hate the painting stage. I love the building stage which is why I have tanks that are built and not painted. My Grandmother was a artist...none of that skill got passed down to me... :problem:

For me the pre shading is a way of making sure the paint doesn’t have to cover in tight spaces. What’s missed can just be a fake shadow.
Especially when a light primer/Surfacer is used.
That’s really all I do it for.
Mr Tankme, you send me the ones you want painted and I will get them done for you.
Then after a 99 year lease term, send them all back !!!!!

I think the freight charge would kill me on a crate big enough to send them all... :shifty:

Ahhh just break it up into a bunch of small shipments.

Keep up the good work Mr. Bix. I'm avidly watching, and patiently waiting...

And Herr Dr & company, from what I've seen and read more recently in the modeling community, "pre-shading" has become passe. "Black-basing" has caught on and all the rage as more time effective and equal or better results with less paint used. Again just what I've seen and read.

Only downside of the black-basing is that the finish then needs to be extensively highlighted in my opinion.
I have used a silver gun metal as a base for Russian tanks before the 4BOpaint, its easier to make look lighter and faded as required.

Past the point of no return now :eh:
The red (not red-brown) stripes seem to match the pictures fairly well, and the yellow/green tinged stripes are a bit too yellow still but outside of a bit more Olive Green will do the job once weathered.
Onwards to weathering & stowage,

Tracks painted and fitted. Being plastic they don’t hang as well as metal ones, but that’s life.
Over time they might free up a bit and sit better but that will take a long time .
Did some scratching on the side ERA and guards, still lots more of that to be done.
Painted the cupola MG so that can go on when the handling is done.
Stowage is next.

It's a cool build. The color scheme is reminiscent of WW2 German colors.
