I could have just left well enough alone and stuck with the Zimmerit but hey, I seem to have an affinity for complicating myself!!

Thanks Proff, I have used actual real concrete on my first StuG ages ago but this stuff was a bit lighter.
Was messy to work with but after a bit of post use improvement, I’ve got the result I wanted.

It was a ballsy move to cover the Zimmerit up, but it paid off! The concrete turned out great; the texture's really convincing with the roughness and cracks. Are you planning to damage the Zimmerit where the concrete's broken?

Ballsy ?!............like self printing an entire early T34 from bugger-all level of ballsy ?!!!!!!!!
Not that risky mate, the Profeline Zimmerit is indeed very very nice, but if I didnt do something odd it wouldnt be me eh !
I am glad by lots that the idea worked, would have been a long way back from it otherwise.
The minds eye is still struggling with the short barrel as all the ones you see in the hobby are L70's. Being short it puts the other features out of proportion well it does to me anyway.
I have a Tamy PzIV here today to compare things with & noticed that the rear engine intake vent armour is a bit narrow. That is a detail not commented on in the long list of detail defects on the H/L Pz IV, so now I know, its hard to unsee and even harder to fix.

With the Bride away on a Dance Mums weekend( what could possibly go wrong ) and the kids sent to a responsible adults care( what?? dont trust me ) I got some stuff done this weekend.
Saturday was spent getting a whole fleet of tanks running for a mate that has zero interest in piss-farting with electronics to the degree that makes me look like an electrical engineer !!
Lots of progress there and a good feeling to pull a lot of tanks from static to running.
Place looked like a combination of Panzer Wrecks and Workshop Wednesday (if you dont know what that is-you dont deserve to )

Today was about this "Flat-panzer" !!
That was after washing 2 cars & doing housework which was conveniently left for me to sort as everyone else had checked out .................
Now I get that there's a long way to go on this thing, but sometimes ya just need a boost to keep the momentum going.
I can spot prime the tool mounts once I make them & get them on so no real reason to hold off the primer
Plan is to brush paint the concrete patches with a light grey or Mr Surfacer to deliberately lighten the effect once the base coat of yellow goes on.
Opened all the hatches & engine deck doors in the sun to make sure the lot was uniform & set up to bomb it.
One thing that I discovered to my horror was that using Tyre Shine in the garage on the Mrs car managed to make its way under the access door to the garage and waft thru the whole place but most disturbingly, over my Jagdpanzer IV Model
The %^$%&# made the first blast of primer get fish-eyes in the paint, thats how I knew the ^&$#$@# had got on the surface.

Well that ripped my nightie I can give you the tip .
Out with the Tamiya thinner as a wipe and went to town on it.
Once I calmed down, back outside and carried on with success..............
90% in primer (tick)

Little more progress
The rear deck wing armour which is a signature of the Jagdpanzer IV needs Zimmerit and being very thin I couldnt use my normal hot screwdriver method.
I went with 2-part Tamiya epoxy putty, the green boxed Quick Type.
The stuff is good, but God it sticks to your fingers like super glue
Anyhow, its on. Still to dry and be dressed & chipped fully but it will be solid by the morning so I can get the wing panels on once the final look is achieved.
Then its tool positions and paint

Looks very good!
I use that Tamiya epoxy putty on most of my build, yeah it sticks a lot! Water can help and you can also put baby power on your hands/fingers to avoid that.
Now I prefer to mix small quantities and working small areas at once, waiting a bit so it cures and be less tacky.
