1) I dont think so mate, I'm sure it works for some folks, but not for me or you eh !

2) Experienced! thats a subtle term(like the b in subtle) which I will admit to preferring over a factory fresh tank. I reckon all modelers have their 'thing', a signature if you like, and mine is rough and 'experienced'

With that, I began the adding of experience !!
I reckon if it can fight its way into and out of a city in the Syrian T.O its going to be rough & carry a lot of that city on its armour.
A little bit of diluted PVA and sprinkles of busted up pot planter feet. Available in different colours, the feet are placed under a pot to lift it up a bit for drainage, and to look better
Me??...........smash 3 up and use the dust & fragments for destroyed city rubble
Once its dry I can go again on the other side.

I can't take credit for "experienced": years ago a farm equipment dealer here in Wisconsin stopped selling used tractors and advertised "experienced" tractors. That was a hoot!

I will shake off the excess debris and see where it sits.

While waiting for my rubble material to dry, I made a Syrian Opposition flag.
green, white, Black with 3 red stars.
Made from a new tea bag, opened up, trimmed to suit, and painted.
Once dry, I folded it and scrunched it into place using tamiya XF-86 flat clear and a brush to form it into place.
A light dust to blend it with its surroundings and Voila.
I didnt want it to be to pronounced, rather present and subtle.
Not much more to do now, just some bedding to make & add as external stowage.

Looking better now the excess rubble has been shaken off.
Added an ammo can to the turret roof for ready use, and to keep the flag in place.
Not much left now, the pickaxe is now proving a pain in the but-tox to get sorted of all things!

Bedding!..................seen a lot of pics from the Syrian conflict that show the tanks (ers) have though about their own comforts enough to procure and secure items of bedding from mattresses to heavy blankets. Makes some sense as once the sun goes down & the fighting diminishes, they may be able to rest, either under armour, or, on top of it.
Once again it was handy having Daughters to come to the proverbial rescue. A piece of cloth with very small floral patterns on it seemed both to look right and have the right scale.
I found a scrap of packing sponge/foam and rolled the cloth around it to form a sort of bedding that might have made the precious periods of rest a bit more comfortable.
Once tied off with bits of embroidery yarn, I dry-brushed some tan filter over it to take the new glare off.
Secured in place with super glue in a position that looks near enough on top of a stowage bin.
Next to the flag, the colours work well to break up the desolation of sand & stone, and once the crew is added(if ever) the effect should work.
From a cultural perspective, I need to research if the crew of this machine in its location would be of a specific religious denomination ,that may further add to the need for personal items stowed on the outside of the vehicle.................

The bedding is a brilliant touch well executed.

As for a crew, perhaps some SAS figures could be suitably modified, although I don't see Syrians wearing protective head wraps as did the Brits.

Perhaps another possibility might be to modify some Afrika Corps. soldiers with their quite varied, almost rag-tag uniforms. There are a few without hats and not much uniform amid my bunch. (With luck, I might be able to recall where I got them.)
