I agree with Herman, that really is an interesting technique. I think I might just have to try it out on a smaller scale.

I have seen Tissue paper used for cloaks and draping fabric in the same manner.

Works very well too, see pic 1. Liek Herman said, you can experiment a lot. The first time I saw this technique used it was Kitchen Towel and thinned down woodglue.

I wanted the jack to be a very nice detailed piece, so I started working on it, but instead of improving it, I felt it started to look worse... These were my steps:

Then I decided the way to go was to try some chipping. I was never very good at such small details, but hey, if people can do it on 1/35 scal...

Now go try it yourself! Even if you don't have a fitting project yet, haha! It's fun to experiment with.

Jeez!! If you’re not happy with that there is no saving ya !!
So many techniques that we can all use in the smaller scale.
I guess you wouldn’t bother with adding pigment to running gear as the thing would pick up its own natural elements while running?
