The inside of the fighting compartment is going to be real busy- no doubt you have plenty of period pictures and other equally salacious goodies to reference eh

Hi Herman, actually not as many as I would like as most of the ww2 pics show the outside with very few inside views. I am having to rely on people's pics of detailed 1/35 models that they have produced, plus a few bits I've picked up from pics of wrecked nashorns from the battlefield. My 1/72 model kit also has helped enormously.

Anyway back to the drawing board.

Actually I have been doing some quiet thinking over a glass or two of vino , and wondered after doing all this cad design and prototyping whether I might actually produce a couple more Nashorns in basic form for sale, but I'm not sure how much I could sell them for. Obviously they would be in basic condition with one coat of paint and no fiddly decor, no electronics, just a chassis with gearboxes and upper deck including gun and basic cab furniture. I'd also have to find a source of supply for panzer IV chassis.

What do you think?

Brilliant stuff Alwyn........ You should just sell the 3D printed bits, like the upper and the gun, cab details. Buyer can source the necessary Heng Long parts like the PzIV chassis and stuff, either thru Aliexpress or some other Heng Long resellers.

Thanks M ichael, the idea is definitely growing on me. I can get a lower hull minus gearbox/sprockets quite reasonably. The reason I would need the lower hull is that it has to be stretched slightly, but you are right, if I just did the bare lower hull no gearbox/transmission covers etc the customer can fit gearbox etc and electronics to suit, then do upper hull, gun, basic fittings and leave the customer to finish/detail/paint/customise.

Hmmm...... I will definitely ponder that.

You're right Herman, it is back to the keyboard (and mouse of course). A productive afternoon and produced the other controls plus the gunner protector.




And installed




This is where it all happens, CAD design is much easier with 2 screens


Printed off the gunner protector screen and put a coat of paint on.



Just the gun sight and gunners seat to do and then the gun is finished.

I do like the idea of having to do some assembly myself obviously you have done all the hard work and then we can add the running gear of our choice like Michael noted. I would like to get the hull already setup to the proper length if possible (just my opinion) the thought of stretching a hull without your skill set is scary to me...

I'm afraid it would fall apart on the battlefield if I do it

That being said...

Alwyn I'm really enjoying your build once you complete it and have time to enjoy it yourself maybe you will have time to come up with a plan for the Nashorn "kit"
