Got a little anxious...just thinking about that Verlinden chunk of resin that came with the Lee/Grant combo
Looks like the guy just gave up....think because of the additional instructions from Verlinden...anyway...Here she is

After 4 hrs of fiddling...this is how she sits at the moment...The Lee/Grant CDL ....what can I say...she has a lot more character than the Grant

..the Lee?...I like the Lee
Couple of the tiny parts are missing...won't be too much trouble to fabricate...the main issue was that all the main parts were there..and they were

This model has turned out to be a real Adventure...Probably the worst Tank Tamiya ever made....nothing fits!...their measurements are totally off...and I think the Sprockets were made for a motorized tank ...they have so much play...I had to pull some old tricks out of my hat To make them work
The only silver lining I can come up with is that since I did manage to make everything go together....When I do the Lee...it will make for an easier build

Pictures before paint :

Don't ask me why....the camera made the tank look all bent out of shape

All's well in this shot lol....Anyway...She'll be done as she should be...normal colors for this tank...removed all the tools ..plugged all the holes...the white that can be seen above the tracks is where Tamiya left hollow

...hope the LEE isn't like that...as this one is supposed to have had skirts...the real tank didn't require they be there so they weren't put on...and will probably go on to my Firefly

...a rare perk ...but a very nice coincident ....even with all the extra challenges the build provided...I really like this tank...it's different

PS. The cool thing is it looks like it's all made of resin...the color match of the Verlinden product matches so well...it almost doesn't need paint

I'd have to agree Kiaser....I like this one too....I've actually never seen this variant till now...I think the turret gives it a really different look...the rest of my tanks are very basic...though good in variety...they are just common tanks you see almost all the time...this is a rare gem indeed...I'm so glad I won this auction...it had more dimension than I expected
Thanks for the words of comfort much appreciated mate

No Worries...it's the least anyone can do
Be well Kiaser

MMMMMMMMMM....That sounds pretty good....cept I can't have too much salty stuff....probably have a steak in the morning
Anyway...Photo's before Paint

Same Problems as the Grant...this one was a little easier...not sure if it's because of the wider fenders or because I did the Grant first
I have no idea why Tamiya leaves the wheel well open...it's just a bad over sight on their part...leaving it open makes the tank look unfinished...so I just had to cover them up
Everything that had to be removed ...was....added a new antenna mount on the rear of the turret
Two machine guns on the turret were left off...the cupola has a visor ...and an additional periscope was added above the large drivers port
Not your average Lee...The vinyl tracks were shot...should have used those for the Firefly...luckily I had a set of rubber band T49 tracks tucked away...which for this model was a blessing...because of the bad drive train design ....think filling all the holes took longer that building the tank lol
That's it for now

PANZER VOR!!! Gents

A few reasons why I wanted to get these two variants out of the way...one was because they were "open" box...so I had to make sure all the parts were present...another is the box was pretty beat...so into the trash it goes...one of the best reasons is I wanted to see the CDL completed...also the GUP version of the Lee

Kiaser wrote:Yes I see

why would they do that with the wheel well

still they look good
I wouldn't be sure if other kits followed Tamiya's design....but the way you mount the main gun is terrible ...both tanks needed alterations

...and for a Tamiya...there was a lot of sanding to do before parts fit...at the prices these things sell for now days...You would think they would at least clean up the molds and make the operation of assembly more hassle free
Now your talking about steaks

yummy

about have the size of a cow

LOL That might do lol...with a good side of eggs and sausage ...maybe some pancakes or home baked potatoes
