Well, I reckon its been long busted & squashed under foot by then mate...............not all the T's were fitted out with the tail lights, but all the covers were made with the recess.

I'm back home by the way, got 4 days :eh:

Also got some weld compound on the vision slits around the cupola.
Good thing about this being a Soviet warhorse is I can be as rough as I like and its close to right !

Thanks Mr Phil, I looked at that many pictures and studied turret fittings that it was a thing I had to do.

Not a lot of tangible progress today, but mounted the suspension arms & got a very light primer coat on sections of it.
Also made a couple of bands for the missing smoke canister and put a few dings on the remaining one.Should paint up ok.
The bands will be twisted a bit once mounted. (blue tack will be removed !!)

One thing I did forget though was to fill in the slots for the glacis plate spare track.
I cut the tabs off the H/L plastic ones and glued them into the hull.
Once they are set I will grind them down & hopefully blend them into the plate.
Plan is to mount the small squares that held threads that small bolts tightened into to retain the sections on the hull in the correct spot.
Dimpled the lug positions with a drill through the plastic track to make setting the lugs up easier.
Heavy rust & chaffing from missing track sections should help to cover up the infills.
Only one section will be secured.

Being the mildly impatient sod that I am, could not wait to leave the bulk bits un-primed, then un-basecoated :/
Took a leaf from Mr Hugill & went out for a couple of cans of Tamiya TS-48 Gunship Grey.
After using my normal automotive self etching primer on the metal work, and then the tank body itself, I hit the wheels with the '48

It just looked odd................

So, having some AS-3 (luftwaffe Grey Green) left from my Zu-Fuss rockets, I hit the wheels with that as well as the lower hull.
Now it looked better, BUT, thinking like I should have from what Mr Hugill used, the MIG modulation pack of 4BO green would be

A- hard to see what layer had gone where
B- Very likely been too dark & not be as effective over the AS-3 as the TS-48.

So, this T 34/85 has a base coat of AS-3 Grey Green on the wheels & hull lower, with the TS-48 Gunship Grey over the upper hull.

I would just about say the TS-48 is a good substitute for German Grey.

Tonight I began the session of "my-time" by watching Andy Murray take on 'The Joker' in the Aus Open final, straight on the back of New Zealand beating South Africa in the Rugby Sevens Final
Now I got to get out the V05 Mega-Hold hairspray and 'do it' to the T34/85 !

This painting method never ceases to amaze and amuse me ................theres no way a tank build should go from drying industrial primer, to Tamiya base coat aroma,to "lover you smell gorgeous" without causing some sort of chaos in the time/space continuum ;)

I just hope the MIG set I have will be as gratifying as mid-range cost hairspray :wtf:
