Looking at this view you can see that that thing on the rear left side is a stopper/holder upper for the rear door of the battery compartment when it is opened up all the way.

No they only have the v2. Wish they had the same thing for the v1 as prime portals pics are not nearly as complete or well organized

Really...thought I saw some images that I had got googling ...one of the grills...in that one there were no hatches in the back next to them...that's when I stopped looking thinking they were of the V1 :{

Yep only v2's. I looked at all the pics in the menu and they have no earlier Abrams version picture sets. (did you notice that the 2 square hatches on the pic that are next to the battery storage hatches seem to have a super fine mesh)

NOW I DO 8O ...Heck ...I'm going to stick to what I have...don't think there's anything finer...also noticed the direction is different on the one next to the big one on the edge...dang Heng Long...been following what they laid down :|

PS..Are you really going to make all those changes? thought you did a fine job already

Just a thought....I was pondering the finer mesh....do you think that might have been a retro fit Giant...like what they did to the Apache Helicopters...they had problems with the sand and debri clogging the intake filters ...they meshed those up so they would last longer :think:

I'm going to look at all my research pictures of the v1 and try to correct anything I missed or took a shortcut on. Like not looking for a finer mesh to but on the rear deck.

One thought on the ultra fine looking stuff is that it looks like something added over the mesh on the v2 that is easily removable if it gets clogged up with fine dust. Like on my furnace it originally came with an inch thick lattice of punched out layers of aluminum which had the punched out slots never in the same place as any of the other layers. Pretty effective but super fine particles still could get though it. I added one of the new paper type filters behind the mesh filter and it collected anything that the mesh missed., and I replace it every month because there is so much ultra fine stuff on it while the mesh filter is good at least 3 months before there is enough stuff in it to require cleaning. I know they added a better filter inside the engine air intake area on v1 models to lessen damage causing fine dust from reaching the turbines blades which was the main cause of engine power loss and if severe enough failure.
Another thought, since those are not engine air intake grills, is that it is something to help reduce the heat signature that anything exhausted out the top of the rear deck must be hot, to make the tank more invisible to heat seeking enemy weapons designed to dive down into the top of the target when it detects a heat signature.
Both idea's are speculation but would make sense As the v2 has received so many upgrades over the v1 model and both the US and Russia are known to either already have or are developing fire and forget missiles that can be ground launched just for that purpose.
You know Giant...I took another look at that page again...you're right ...a lot of really good pics of the rear deck....one question came up while I was pondering whether or not to detail the rear bulkhead....that area above the exhaust seems too short on the model...noticed there is supposed to be two lift rings and two bolted on panels right about the exhaust...there doesn't seem to have the room for those...What do you think?
