Well it's mostly sorted. I had shapeways print the hitch, and the internal sliding block is slightly too small. I could get it to open, but it wouldn't auto-lock because the block would twist and get stuck. I grew impatient and just wanted it running, so it's just manual at the moment. It's just a couple screws, so I'll fiddle with it some more when I have time.

All very nice work you have been doing here truly outstanding.
Finally received my 380 motor and 2 speed gearbox and servo set up to mod my WPL 6x6 from the standard kit 180 motor.
All in all a very nice piece of kit , appears well made and all fits perfectly
One thing to note is that the standard splined plastic shafts will not fit as the output shaft has no splines only flats for grub screws ...so unless you mod the plastic shafts as I have done or fit the upgraded metal drive shafts the standard plastic ones won't fit.
some pics for you to peruse.
Regards Sub.
Awesome! You'll need to show us a video of it running!

well thats kinda odd,in my print the block was a snug fit and needed sanding to move freely and auto lock.ill have a look at the files again....maybe i messed up during publishing it.

It could have been something lost in translation between thingverse and shapeways.

I know this isn't the right place for this, but i have put a wanted out for some WPL/HengLong truck transmitters, receivers etc
If anyone has any of the useless junk laying around, would you let me know please?
They will not be fitted to any trucks i can assure you of that, but RC tanking related for sure
Many thanks
Will

The Postie delivered a Crumpled black plastic bag this morning,
My heart sank having been made aware by Painless of the lack of packaging,
With care I cut the bag open revealing a squashed cardboard box wrapped in a thin layer of Plastic foam,
I opened the box and took out the LiPo battery and then the controller and then slid the 6 wheeled JJRC Q60 Truck out of the battered box,
So far so good,
A quick glance through the instruction booklet,
Which by the way is a far better example compared with some I have seen,
Plugged the USB Charger into a vacant USB Port in the Computer,
The red light on the charger came on and then after just a few minutes went off,
Hmm,
Put two AA batteries in the controller care of the provided Phillips screwdriver,
Connected the LiPo battery to the Truck and slid the Switch under the front of the Truck to on noting the Fine Tuner for the steering adjacent to the power switch,
The Truck headlights began flashing,
Then switched on the controller, The red flashing light on the controller steadied and Huzzah It had binded,
A quick drive around the workshop and everything appears to work,
With no damage to report so not a bad £28 worth,
Cheaper than the WPL/Heng Long four wheeler,
It is sitting between a couple of Tiger 1s and looks the part but a couple of Balkan crosses and a Heer number plate after lightly blowing over it with a Desert Sand finish will be enough for the present.
I am impressed with the quality for what is in truth a cheap toy.

Yeah the packaging seems alot to be desired.
I just received 3 WPL B1's that were wrapped in indestructable plastic bag. Thankfully the truck sinside were in good condition.
Need to get me a Q60 ordered up, i still just waiting for the Q61

Morning Herman!
I am glad that your truck arrived intact. Yes, the packaging seems to vary per seller. I have seen some on YouTube vids that arrived packed properly ( like something from Forgebear ). My replacement parts are wending their way here as I type. The truck is definitely nice enough to warrant a mini build ( extra lights and sound, etc along with a detail job ) I will want to replace the wheels and tires with something more period correct. When you paint yours, please grace us with some pics.
regards,
Painless

Some videos!
Trial for 2 speed transmission for WPL truck. Transmission servo needs a little work!
Sneaky video to show what i might be doing with a WPL truck soon!
Although it needs better suspension and maybe longer tracks than stock!
Tamiya Tracked Vehicle 70108 got it cheap on well known auction site! May buy a few more. There are 2 speed options to choose from, this is only Standard setup, but i will also try fast gear aswell.
Resistors may be required to try and match up the drive speed on front & rear drive units! More to come.
I am also turning another set of WPL trucks into a 6x6, but this time with a bit of a difference. High torque application, so may require another 2speed transmission! Although i am tempted to fit a 540 size motor and transfer case to see what happens!
