Re: My Panther
something about Panthers that bring out the obsessive superdetailer in many of us,I cut my teeth on 1970's kits in 1/35,1/25,1/24,they were basic kits with so much to do,what major changes does HL need, not detail but proportions, structure, shape etc
Re: My Panther
I think the heng long proportions are about right....they must have copied the tamiya...but things like the commanders cupola needs cutting in at the base to make it look more like its bolted on...its just part of the mold on the heng long. The commanders hatch was wrong etc, etc....every time I study a pic close up, I see the mistakes, but, thats what you get for this price. Its more fun to cut and shut than build straight out of the box....I should try building a 1/35 scale tank...but went straight into 1/16

Re: My Panther
whats wrong with hatch?is pivot arm wrong? Yes if you fancy a 1/35 job for a bit of light relief the latest G's are good.steel wheels or the late which gives option of exhaust and steel wheel at last station, final type idler, turret camo loops and more,
Re: My Panther
When I put the hatch stop on it never touched the hatch....had to cut the arm back and re-drill the hole to its correct position...worked out ok in the end.....the barrel is wrong to!....it widens at the mantlet, but the heng long is straight...THAT will be a mod and a half..Von kraftwerk wrote:whats wrong with hatch?is pivot arm wrong? Re: My Panther
In a build somewhere on this site some genius used a length of glass fibre fishing rod,not the whole thing mind,he took the reel off first,ROFL
Re: My Panther
I used a part of a carbon fibre roach pole for my pantiger rebuild

Re: My Panther
Hi MT, I like the final drive covers you made....thats another thing on the list of to-do's....this list is longer than the wife's to-do list she has for me!

Re: My Panther
Here I put the spare aerial tube on....it is again a temp fit, but its the first time it has seen the tank, the soldering on this has been a pain...bought a small heat sink today, which should help greatly...

Re: My Panther
love the tube, just noticed something though, the skirt hooks.the bottom one bends down correct, the one thats hooking upwards is supposed to point to the rear,it may not matter to you,but with all the great stuff going into this one, maybe it does,I hope I'm wrong it may be optical illusion, all that primer, lol
Re: My Panther
To be honest, I never checked!...I just followed the profiline details..hang on(no pun intended!), just look at the close up picture in Panzer Tracts No5-3...they point backwards!...phew, hope its the same for the other side. I have not made them yet, but the pictures for right hand side are like hens teeth

(Ps...I think its just the angle....the profiline hangers the same as the originals)
