Reconsidered magnets for a while, but after lots of emailing with a Dutch magnet webshop, decided to dump that idea.

Right now I am working on an idea with an aluminum angle profile, thickness 1,2 mm.
I did drill 2 mm holes in the profile, next I sawed brackets/supports slightly wider.
A lot of measuring to do it right the first time.
I have finished the brackets/supports for one side now, measured the skirts so they overlap a bit, and cover the tank's side as good as possible.
Drilled holes in the plates to fit the holes in the brackets.
Now i must solder some "hooks" onto the brackets which carry the schuerzen.
Will make some test brackets/hooks first, to see if the schuerzen can come off easily.
Next step will be the glue trick......
Checked youtube for that baking soda/superglue trick.
At first I made a try on a piece of plastic with wood glue and baking soda.
But the wood glue takes too long to dry, so it is not a firm connection right away.
Next I took some glue (it said superglue somewhere on the item) , which dried up very quickly, but after some minutes I could brake it off the plastic too.
Maybe it was the kind of plastic I used, it was the plastic lid from some yoghurt thing, you know, one of those plastic buckets.
It even could have been the wrong glue, I do not know.
Glad I did not try it on the Panther right away.
Maybe my inexperience in this, never tried the baking soda trick ever before, but it was a bit messy with that powder.
Right now, I think I may have to drill a second hole in the brackets, there where the glue is supposed to come. So the glue will fill the hole, making a firmer connection?
Will shoot some pics the next days, ready to go to work, night shift tonight.
Try a simple narrow brass flat bar with bent ends on one end of each.
Turn them back to back with one slightly longer than the other.
One "tag" will act as the hanger, the other as the 'stopper' to rest the plate on.
Solder them together back to back.
Remove the plastic hangers off the kit.
Drill holes into the hull in place of each hanger, and super glue your new hangers in place.
Use good quality wood glue to go over the entire filet joint under the fender strip & over each new hanger to add resilient strength.
Make you skirt plates to suit one by one.

Oh, and use slower cure- high impact super glue.
Never mind the soda caper !

Good work Rob, glad you went down the rod/hull route. If you want an all purpose impact resilient glue, try Shoe Goo. Racers have been using it for years, plus its water proof and fast drying.

While I already had all the aluminum parts, I decided to go that way and not for the brass option.
I finished both sides yesterday on the F.
Looks not bad.
Must fine tune the hangers a bit in the future.
I think I will start with the red paint as grounding.
Will check an autopart's store this afternoon for it.

They look the part mate, good work.
Scuff them up with sandpaper to key the surface, and use good quality etch primer.
Clean the surface well with methylated spirit or similar.
Hobby primer is not good enough.
It needs to be at least automotive grade, if not industrial grade or it will flake off in big scales.
Remember to add any bends or dent now before primer.

Still in doubt what to do with the Schurzen.
The tank looks pretty "clean", as she is as she came right out of the box.
In a way I do like the stock paintjob, that's the reason I choose that tank.
So if I damage the Schurzen they will not match the tank I am afraid.
I do have 2 options now:
- leave the tank the way it is and just camouflage the Schurzen.
- or damage the Schurzen and weather the Panther too.
I might go for option 1 for now, maybe in a later stage I will do some weathering and damaging to the tank and Schurzen.
