Try googling Bob or Robert Burik and Thunder Run. That should bring up pix of his own Thunder Run project (in 1/35). His builds are documented and some of the discussions show pix that were provided to him by Sgt. Olson, one of the TCs that participated in both Thunder Runs at Baghdad (and most of whose photos were used in the Concord book of the same name). I was in contact with Bob Burik when I did the Thunder Run 1/35 diorama some years ago, and you can be assured that the 1/35 models he built of the various Thunder Run tanks would be good reference points as these are very realistic, down to the .50-cal link and what stowage a particular tank had on a particular point in time, and all based on source material provided to him by a veteran who took the pix for the Concord book (and many other pix that didn't get published). His builds would show the tie downs and other detail for the bustle rack extension, jerrycan racks, etc etc etc.
Here's one build of his:

Thank you! I actually have two of the Concord books that have relevant photos. I was being complacent and just relying on the 1/35 Dragon counterpart for reference.
Cheers, Tom

ALPHA,
That is extremely kind of you considering the amazing builds that others have shared, including you! I think all of the builds I've seen here have been equally great, something I aspire to. Yes, I anticipate lots of purchasing, building, and scrounging stowage!

Nah...Mine is very simple ...mostly because of my genre

....But really...this is turning out pretty sweet ...I'm almost tempted to revise mine lol.

Not really to nitpick, but IIRC the M1s used were M1A1AIM tanks, not just HC. M1A1HC is the designation for USMC M1A1 tanks (HC - Heavy Common). M1A1HA are US Army tanks with the Depleted Uranium inserts. By 2003, the US Army's fleet of M1 tanks were (I think) mostly M1A1AIM with some M1A1Ds (precursors to the AIM tanks). By then, all US M1s had depleted uranium armour inserts, making M1A1HA old designation.

So, he's doing a Marine tank. I like it even more now!

Pick away! Hmmm...the Dragon instructions label this tank as an HC, a post from the Network 54 forum mentions it, even Cookie Sewell uses this in his review of the Dragon kit. At the same time, many of the sources I've come across, including the Michael Green Abrams book, write that the HC is limited to the USMC. I better play it safe and just call this an M1A1, especially when the 3rd ID in 2003 had more than one version.
Thanks, Tom

Drat! Was really liking the change.
Guess I have biases.
