*nods* Tonight was some quiet fun. I attached new guards and lifting points and worked on the light fixtures externally. I was going to add the tools but will paint them before mounting. Pictures:

The suspense is unbearable .... Like Frankenstein rising to life with a charge of electricity ...it's exciting to inhale the creation of the "MOOD" and watch in anticipation of her first breaths

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Good Morning,
This tank has been out for some 8 years now minus any real tooling changes or detail work except for the electronics upgrade. Mato has brought out some tools and running gear and tracks in metal but as I have said earlier, I think that was done to grab a piece of the after market sales originating with the Heng Long Sherman. Whatever this tank's deficiencies, it has enabled a lot of modelers to do some fantastic builds. I am still very happy to have one and now even more so after this re build. Once done, 'In The Mood' can sit beside 'Maxene' and lose nothing in the comparison. I am running a couple of days behind due to back issues slowing me down but it should definitely be complete this weekend.
regards,
Painless

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Thank you, CH, I await your thoughts and advice. I wanted to get to primering today but the wind was crazy (and still is) so I settled for configuring the 3 pole sound pot from Immortal into a two pin plug and soldering it. Also, I drilled and cut out the mount for the Power Switch in the other hull hatch insert. Once that is screwed into place, opening the tank will give access to remove the two small screws holding the switch in place for any maint. The last thing I worked on was mounting the turret on the upper hull and getting it ready to primer and paint tomorrow (wind allowing). I used the last of my self-adhesive plastic slides to get the turret mounted but am very satisfied with the results. Alpha, I see what you mean about opening the hatches with the turret on but if you park the tank with the gun at 45 degrees, access is restored. Since I will be turning it on and off through a hull hatch, I will remember to do so. Pictures:

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Looks like she's really coming along Painless... is that the wiring configuration that immortal recommended? It's interesting
I agree about the power switch lol... at least you can't really turn it off without remembering to adjust the turret first ....but I think it's realistic... if you look at the pics of the real Sherman on my thread...it doesn't look like the hatches open with the turret pointing forward either..and I think it's the reason on the Jumbo's they made those triangular cuts to the edges of the bottom corners of the mantlet and also the reason I think Mato lifted the turret
You going to make a Laffayette figure for this ?

ps... take care of that back

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Good Morning, Alpha,
Thank you, Sir. Coming from a noted Shermaholic, your kind words are high praise. ;o) Immortal still hadn't gotten back to me but I had hedged my bets the previous weekend at a local gathering and asked a friend of mine who is an electrical engineer. That wiring set up makes the pot into sort of a rheostat with protection in case the wiper ever fails, the sound is not suddenly full on. I agree on all points. Kind of a bother but not bad enough to make me wish I had left that ugly ring on the turret base. The Mood looks so much better now and I've not even primered the upper hull and turret. Yeah, Crazy Joe has been reassigned and is awaiting his next billet. St. Sgt. Pool will be taking over 'In The Mood' once she is complete.
regards,
Painless

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Alpha, don't feel bad for Joe. He will be getting one of those all metal Honeys from Mato here this year, probably a tank destroyer but maybe that 75mm (W) too. ;o) I am watching the back. Tonight, I finished up early enough to get to bed at a decent hour. Today was a big primer and paint day and I took some time between primer, primer, shadow, paint and paint to pick out and prep the tools and stowage this tank would carry. Sgt. Pool ran his tanks, lean and clean and so it will be for this version of 'In The Mood'. Pictures:

Re: Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation
Hey Painless... she sure is looking good under color the Tamiya bits look much much better than the stock ....that cable lock on the front is one feature that I really liked about the stock Mato,,,tiny as that detail is... it's something many manufacturers overlook...it is also one of the details that made me scratch my head in wonder...that along with the fuselage serial numbers ..perforated machine gun ...periscope guards on the driver/gunner hatches ...nice rubber covered wheels....it made me wonder just how could there be such an eye for detail on those things...be so off set by some rather blatant off scale parts over the rest of the tank
I wouldn't be sure if there was a rush to push the production of the model or a goof up by one of the engineers but they are clearly there lol
What you have done is redefine as well as highlight the best of what Mato provides...She's nothing short of a testament to your skill and knowledge ...once again creating another outstanding Sherman
