Mr Alpha, did you carefully cultivate that grass or is it an import from Operation Goodwood.

Re: Another SAUNDERS SHERMAN
Hi Herman,
It is not entirely impossible.
The chap in my avatar is Maj Gen Pip Roberts, CO of 11 Armoured Div during WWII. The division took part in Epsom, Goodwood and Bluecoat whilst in Normandy, so it is possible it might be him. I suspect it is a member of the shermans crew though as he seems to be wearing overalls.
I had the great privilege of knowing Maj Gen Roberts for a short while before he passed away. He was in North Africa as a regimental and then brigade commander, and took over as divisional CO of 11th Armoured from Maj Gen Percy Hobart. I believe he is still the youngest holder of the rank of Maj Gen in the British Army.

Yes fynsdad ... I do remember Dragon's Persherman ...it was pretty awesome... thought you might have one already lol....but if you don't... hey don't let me hold you back from owning one nowfynsdad wrote:I may have to use the 76mm turret for something else so what do you think Mike? Dragon235 did a cracking job of one of these...should I do the same????![]()

I actually think it would be a cool idea... as I don't recall Dragon's having skirts...not to mention you have the look nailed

I really like that you kept your build here fynsdad.... as the photos does solidify my belief that the welded hull looks much more "beefier" than the cast hullfynsdad wrote:Shot some colour on the skirts...they could be related, Mike![]()
.. with that said.. "SKIRTS" the more I see them... the more I like them

Thanks again fynsdad

Well Frank... you asked for my opinion... I thought Dragon's Persherman was an excellent representation....your's would be too as it is almost identical to the one in the photo....With that said though... you have that mind boggling stockpile of parts to play with..so your choices are unlimitedfynsdad wrote:Dragon's Persherman was built as a "what-if" production model, so I think he was correct in leaving the skirts off as the crew would have removed them as they did on "normal" Shermans![]()

I'm still not sure if it's what I want to do, I may put a HL turret on her and do her as a 75mm

Then there is the option of putting it to a vote

found these two pictures... that might help with the inspiration

not sure what the color scheme on the top photo is... but it looks pretty sharp

At least there's a consolation... found another picture with a Sherman missing a Skirt
