Difficult to get ratio right. 1;100 mix on the stuff im using. they had a 50:50 mix but the one I have looks better and is 1/3 price. I will make all the other vision blocks also. Back to working on a set of rear mudguards at the moment. The kit ones were wrong and not worth fixing so start from scratch.

I will get back to the periscopes and vision blocks soon but for now I will crack on with the hull.
I was able to use the kit front mudguards with some modification but the rear kit mudguards were very wrong for a late Tiger and could not use any part except the hinge pin. Got some brass sheet and a new soldering iron and with some help from a tutorial on soldering have set to making my own.

I still have a lot to learn about soldering but will keep at it.

Hi John,
Your Tiger looks great. All the extra detail you're adding will pay off in the long run. Keep the photo's coming.
Thanks Antony

Some more work recently completed.

I have made a start on some new interior detail parts. These are the stowage boxes fitted to the inside of the turret for headphones and flare pistol cartridges.

Hi Johnf
Silly question...but with this size tank, what paint are you using for your yellow?...I struggle with small tins or pots to make them last...never mind this size!
Thanks Nic
Ps...brilliant build

Re: Late Tiger 1 build 1/6 Armortek
No problem Nick.
Because I am working in metal I have to etch prime everything first, thats the initial grey base . (As a base coat for dark yellow I was using 500 ml cans of yellow primer from halfords. (Not a great colour though.)
Now i use the army painter desert sand spray as a base. This works well as a base but I am also going over the whole thing in Tamiya XF60 dark yellow. Xf60 covers well over the desert yellow. And yes, I buy the XF60s by the dozen. I top each pot up with thinners for the airbrush. I think next time I will use vallego dark yellow instead of Tamiya. Much cleaner through the airbrush.
Also gone through 12 packs of milliput so far.
The colour you can see on the mudguards is desert yellow. This is not accurate dark yellow though. Just a base coat.

Panzer IV arrives for Christmas so all the crazyness starts again.

I was planning on trying a few tests on zimmerit for the turret but got impatient and decided to just go for it. I'm using milliput so no going back.
