The headlight cover came from a Tamiya sprue for King Tigers. Tamiya sprues are the best when you need non specific parts for your Builds.

Good Evening,
Not a problem, Sir. Looking over the Heng Long KT, I really see the issues after building that neat little Hobby Boss version. Too many non opening hatches, proportions slightly off, thick fenders, screw holes in the glacis to hold the upper on. The List goes on. I can do a lot to improve the appearance with Primer and Paint. Some other stuff is going to have to be fixed manually to get closer to what the real thing ( or the detailed modern kit ) looks like.

Painless

An idea to address the screw holes in the glacis I saw comes from our own Mr Tank A Lot=

And Mr. Tank a Lot shows a bit of a ribald sense of humor in that video, too. (No, I'm not telling what minute to go to in the video.) @)

Good Morning,
That is a helpful and funny video. I am still leaning toward a new lower. Early days (well late on the 1/16 version anyway) on this one.

Good Morning
Question to any who have had experience rebuilding the HL Porsche turret version KT...Is the HL turret a reasonable match for a replacement from a Tamiya or Trumpeters kit? I would like to add some operating details to this tank, sort of an Update from the stock setup (which is pretty minimalistic)

Good Evening,
I spent some time during a Slow Work Afternoon rolling through the KT Builds on the Forum ( including the original one for this tank ) and found the answer I was looking for. Yes and No....
After work was shuttered, I powered the KT up with a fresh L-Ion Battery and found the original transmitter with its # 2 Crystal. Everything worked. I was sort of amazed. I turned the Smoker back off since it was dried out. Everything else worked, even the BB Gun mechanism. Compared to the smooth and progressive driving of the newer tanks, this KT drives fairly jerky, not helped along by broken suspension components and slightly tweaked Lower. Everything works tho' so a swap for some newer HL electronics would do this massive AFV some good. Definitely getting that new Lower as well.

I read back over your posts, Painless. I am a all confusiated  (nothing new about that): I thought you were starting with a Taigen Königstiger, but you mention a #2 crystal. I have never heard of a Taigen with a crystal TX and RX, so I am guessing it's a HengLong with which you started.

So you are starting with:
a ______ hull
a _____ upper
and a _____turret

and going to rebuild with:
a ______ hull
a _____ upper and
a _____turret

Good Evening, Herr Doc,
I am starting with one of the original release HL Porsche Turret King Tigers. The tank is old enough to use a crystal set #2 It is a Way Back Machine.
Looking at it today, powered up has helped solidify what I want to do with it. I will add a Taigen \ Torro type Lower with the metal running gears and steel gearboxes. This will match the metal tracks, sprockets and idlers already on it.
I will upgrade the Electronics with one of HLs newer sets (to minimize the rewiring) Paint and some extra detail will then see it done. I could do a lot more but want to at least try to keep the costs down. ;0)

Hello out west there, Painless. Although I have previously replaced Taigen electronics with updated Taigen electronics, I like your choice because HengLong 6.0-7.1 can provide a Tiger sound and much better speed control and variability at for a relatively low cost.
